New air lines for locker needed

Post by Weasel »

I managed to get a branch (read - half a tree) stuck under the truck up Odlins road last Sunday and before it jammed in ther rear coil it severed the diff breather and locker hose.

So I need to source a new fitting for the breather, it actually broke off the metal fitting screwed into the diff rather than the hose itself. Will start with BNT as they may have. Happy on advice about where easiest to get.

And I need to source new 5mm blue air line for ARB locker. Can probably get an ARB branded kit but haven't checked price yet so wondered if anyone had done same and found a good source? Will investigate how it attaches at compressor and diff, not sure what the fittings are yet. Any advice welcome!

Also managed to get loads of oil leaking through freewheel hub. Can only be diff fluid (?) so must be oil seal gone in axle? Superwinch hubs are pretty loose and flogged so thinking about trying some of "Force" ones from traxion...any experiences out there???

Thanks,
Matt

The diff breather will be a standard BSP thread, so you can use a titon brass tail fitting to do the job  Getting the broken bit out may be another story though
The air piping is just nylon air hose and can usually be doctored with brass compression fittings available from the same supplier as the tail. I replaced the metric shyt pipe with 1/4 nylon and it seams to push in and seal well to the quick coupler on the activation valve at the compressor.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!

Try Telford in auckland. They used to advertise on trade me but can't find an add at the moment. Google them and you will get abusiness listing but no web site. They do all that air line stuff. I got 6mm air line, and a hand full of push lock fittings for about $30. THe push lock stuff works mint for the locker line and I carry spare straight joiners in case of a opps like yours, track side repair.
Toy - Zuk chassis tub, hilux 4.88 axles and transfer, Nissan CA18DE motor and auto trans, sc12 supercharger, 32 10'5 simex, twin motor 8274 custom freespool. Well the parts are all there in various corners of the shed

Ring Badnutz up and buy a heavy duty airline kit, little bit expensive, but will be the end of the problem for good.
