project rock proof ( kzj90 prado)

Post by 2roky »

giday all after a bit of a rough play time i ended up doing this to my running boards.

so i though it was fine time to build some decent sliders and rebuild the standard belly plate into something stronger.
so i came up with the following.

ill get some more photos of it all mounted up when i was me truck. there is also another plate that goes from the rear most front suspension link back to the transfer case cross member.

all built with a stick welder, grinder and a plasmer cutter on the drive way

if anyone would like measurements feel free. remember though that the rock sliders on mine are designed for the narrow body version so the wide body might need a slightly different width or the ends flared out silghtly

So you are going to mount these by drilling the rails, welding in crush tubes and fitting backing plates?

Why not mount them the way mine are done, well it's an option anyway.

This system is really solid and is easy as to do.
The "C" channel set up I use is the same way the 'lux ones are mounted, and I challenge any one to give them more of a hiding than they got on my last truck  :P

So Rokhound...

Those sliders just bolted on eh? Must be simple to remove ... ah ... and refit ... should the need arise.

So where in Chch do you live again and do you have dogs...

Kidding of course (maybe), nice job, looks just like what I want for my SWB prado so I can ditch the light ali ones (sell em while they arent stuffed).

Does the snorkel just unbolt as well?

i just cut holes through the chassis with the plasma as my drill soiled its self and stopped working. and i used 5mm plate the same width as the chassis rail as a back plate and grade 8.8m bolts

the bash plate is 2.5mm plate, just need to sort another couple of mounts i think.

all mounted up for now

So do you want to make another set for my SWB? The ali ones are too pretty and perhaps I should sell them while I can.

If you had asked 5 mths ago, I would have, but with 20-30 confirmed jobs coming in a day at the moment, I don't have a show. It won't last for ever though.
My Mrs wants the plyadoh back when I get my new 2011 'lux and she won't be able to handle the height etc for long (short and fat   ), so all the lift kit suspension may be for sale soon and I might look at flicking the sliders as well, but more than likely it will all stay as it is until it get's traded on her new wagon at the end of the year.

How did you mount the bash plate? Looking at doing something similar and keen for ideas. Cheers
