Find out what you have fitted already. On your data plate under the bonnet there is a trans/axle code. Part of the code will read HG46 for example. That will tell us what diffs you have and what ratios. I can trade you a 4.1 ratio diff head for the rear (open) If you have a 4.6 ratio. Then it will be a matter of finding a front diff.

mines a diesel model and it has hg46 (well did have)
mines an auto though if thats what the difference is.

maybe as the transfer that came with the manual box is in there so maybe if i swap the manual for auto (the same that goes with the diffs) it might be fine?

anyone got some input on that?

Just a thought here, you have checked the speed with a GPS?
Sometimes it's not the diff ratio but a case of matching the right speedo drive to the diffs. 90% of the manual TD27's run 4.6 diffs so it is the most common. Mine came with 4.6's and i have changed them to 4.8's for hill climbs with 33's, but on 31's it now revs to 3150rpm or so at 100k. When running big 32's i change back to the 4.6 speedo drive and the speedo is nearly correct.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!

V6 manual with 4.3's is standard/ auto 4.6's
Speedo drive should suit the 4.3's.

Not sure about that. I thought the transfers were all the same, but I will stand corrected on that if someone else knows better :D
I have always been in the habbit of leaving the gear/trans boxes matched up
Have you had the speed checked?
Sometimes the speedo can read low to start with
Nissan were shocking at changing slight things with no warning.

I just remembered today, im 99% sure all mistrals are 4.3's, and all rear diffs in them are LSD, so could be worth finding one wrecking for the diffs.

The transfer case has no ratio change unless in 'low' (high range is straight-thru). But the gear inside the transfercase that drives the speedo-drive maybe different between models with different diff ratios?
