Whats its worth

Post by sakoman »

Thinking about changing trucks but whats the old one worth?
Its a 1990 swb safari aka the "pig"
-low ks 90,00ish
- turbo with top mount intercooler with bonnet scoop goes very well with 12 pound.
-5 speed man,new heavy duty clutch
-100mm lift, drop boxes, heavy duty rear arms new stearing damper
-4.6 diff gears, shaved housings with reinforcing
-near new 35" kl71s and spare creepy
-Full bar work tow hooks, jack points etc etc
-Cut off pods (bits behind rear wheels)
-cargo barrier& shelf
-uniden prs
-crome molly drag link
-safari snorkel
-led spotlights
This is a very well set up truck and it will be a sad day to see the pig go but we need four doors

you might struggle to sell at the mo for what you actually want, banks are not lending so you need someone with cash which limits the amount of buyers, without seeing pics its difficult to estimate a price, you need to work out what you need to set up a new truck.(you will be surprised how much time effort and money it is setting up a new truck) if you sell to cheap you may regret it, ( i did last year ) i realised it was too cheap from the amount of calls i had.. on the other hand we have all seen DREAMERS trucks for sale advertised as "the beast is up for grabs" or "this thing goes anywhere" (yawn) and all they have done is put a second hand set of mud tyres on removed the rear bumper and want $15-$20k...(yawn again)
just be realistic with your price and it will sell...just stick to your price and let them walk away if your not happy with their offer. safari's of all price ranges are sought after and yours sounds like it has everything, make sure you put up plenty of quality pictures of all aspects not one grainy shot taken about 200m away. good luck.

Ain't that the truth! There are some great examples of that on TM at the moment.

I just sold my non turbo 93 SWB for $6200 with no/rubbish tyres. Had 280k on the clock and asides from some VERY minor surface rust spots on about 0.000001% of the body she was solid as. Reckon I could have pushed for 7 (with good tyres) if I cleaned it up a bit but I'm happy with what I got.
Could have slapped 9 on it and grabbed a comfortable seat to put it in line with some other prices.

It is really hard to get a price in mind as tbh as most of the trucks on trademe are priced way over the top. If they are legitimate KM's though I'd be gunning over 10, well over 10 in a good market, not so sure about now if you are really wanting it to sell.
I think Corosafari got 16-18?k for his LWB a few months back (sold quite quickly) and another dude on here 15k for his well setup SWB (took ages to sell) so there is still a small market for quality it seems.
