terrano high revs at 100kph
hey guys was just wondering is it normal for a v6 terrano to sit on around 3500 revs at 100kph? i have just done a auto to manual conversion on it whats the normal revs when sitting on 100kph?
Re: terrano high revs at 100kph
sounds a but high to me, maybe they have a different ratio diff for auto and manual?

hha bigger tires would be better but cant afford them at this stage have to fork out for new box :S might have to find different diff ratios does anyone have any terrano diffs lying around?

Re: terrano high revs at 100kph
yeah nissans have a nasty habit of matching diffs to gearboxes autos have this one and manuels have that one real pain in the butt

Find out what you have fitted already. On your data plate under the bonnet there is a trans/axle code. Part of the code will read HG46 for example. That will tell us what diffs you have and what ratios. I can trade you a 4.1 ratio diff head for the rear (open) If you have a 4.6 ratio. Then it will be a matter of finding a front diff.
Jase.

Re: terrano high revs at 100kph

Re: terrano high revs at 100kph
Just invest in some 33's

Re: terrano high revs at 100kph

To get lower revs, 4.3's

Re: terrano high revs at 100kph
thanks now to hunt down some 4:3 gears
Re: terrano high revs at 100kph
what did the lower gears come out of?
mines a diesel model and it has hg46 (well did have)
mines an auto though if thats what the difference is.

Im not entirely sure, But quite possibly the manual v6?
Re: terrano high revs at 100kph
would the transfer case have different gears in it at all? maybe thats where the difference is

Re: terrano high revs at 100kph
maybe as the transfer that came with the manual box is in there so maybe if i swap the manual for auto (the same that goes with the diffs) it might be fine?
anyone got some input on that?
anyone got some input on that?
Re: terrano high revs at 100kph
hmm, worth a shot easy enough to change and ur box is coming out soon any way, go see laskeys, had that one out the back
Re: terrano high revs at 100kph
But the transfer case isnt used in 2wd, It would only affect 4lo ratio wouldnt it?

Re: terrano high revs at 100kph
im not sure... revs were fine when had auto with 4:6 gears with original transfer guess manuals are slightly different
Re: terrano high revs at 100kph
Just a thought here, you have checked the speed with a GPS?
Sometimes it's not the diff ratio but a case of matching the right speedo drive to the diffs. 90% of the manual TD27's run 4.6 diffs so it is the most common. Mine came with 4.6's and i have changed them to 4.8's for hill climbs with 33's, but on 31's it now revs to 3150rpm or so at 100k. When running big 32's i change back to the 4.6 speedo drive and the speedo is nearly correct.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,

Re: terrano high revs at 100kph
my truck is v6 and its about 15km out plus its the speedo of the box so should be right yea?
Re: terrano high revs at 100kph
V6 manual with 4.3's is standard/ auto 4.6's
Speedo drive should suit the 4.3's.
Cheers,

Re: terrano high revs at 100kph
yea thats what was in the parts truck 4:3s if i were to put a auto transfer (4:6) onto the manual would it correct the revs?
Re: terrano high revs at 100kph
Not sure about that. I thought the transfers were all the same, but I will stand corrected on that if someone else knows better
I have always been in the habbit of leaving the gear/trans boxes matched up
Have you had the speed checked?
Sometimes the speedo can read low to start with
Nissan were shocking at changing slight things with no warning.

Re: terrano high revs at 100kph
have checked speedo with gps and shows 15 km diffrence i guess if i can get a hold of a 4:6 transfer for cheap ill try that if doesnt work will need to find ring and pinions should have kept my parts truck lol
Re: terrano high revs at 100kph
I just remembered today, im 99% sure all mistrals are 4.3's, and all rear diffs in them are LSD, so could be worth finding one wrecking for the diffs.
Re: terrano high revs at 100kph
The transfer case has no ratio change unless in 'low' (high range is straight-thru). But the gear inside the transfercase that drives the speedo-drive maybe different between models with different diff ratios?
