13bt head options (14b)?

Hi,

I put a 13b-t into my BJ73 Landcruiser not that long ago. Everything was fine, few 4wd trips but then I used it to tow a car on a trailer and it overheated about 1hr into it.

Replaced the water pump because it was leaking, which we thought was the cause but tested it over the weekend to find its still overheating.

Going to remove head and see what we find. Hopefully just a blown head gasket but IF the head is cracked I'm a bit stuck.

Toyota have discontinued the 13b-t head, none available from Japan either.

Does anyone know if a 14b head will work? I know 3B won't because of the precups.

No the 14b head is different, Once your head is removed just get it checked out may just be a blown head gasket.

Bugger, ok thanks and yep that's the plan. Hoping its just the gasket but looking into options if the head is toast.

i,m pretty sure i have a head under the house .not sure if its 3b or 13bt ,will have a quick look .you can have it if you want

just had a quick look and it doesn't have glowplugs, i think this means it may be 13bt! .Not 100% sure about that ,it came with a whole pile of stuff .You are more than welcome to come and have a look

That would be awesome! You're a legend, I'll have a look at mine and see if there is a part number visible or something to identify if 13bt
