Big Heavy Soldering Iron Needed Wellington

Post by mike »

The second soldering iron i bought to do electrics has just given up the ghost (doesnt even heat average wires anymore ) :( Anyone have a big heavy soldering iron I can borrow for tomorrow or wednesday please? I'm going to attempt to solder some brushes into my winch motor on the house (boat) and these are thick buggers.

I'm not buying another soldering iron as my Grandfathers is available down south which I'm going to grab on the 8th but need to do these brushes before then.

You should check and see if your local Repco has the $10 small pencil gas torch, brilliant for doing large soldering jobs, especially winch power cable and the likes

Not sure, big enough to solder some brush wire together which is about 3mm diameter. My one just won't even look at that :(
