Sick of bending transfer case arms...... FIX! (Suzuki)

Post by lilpigzuk »

Those running 4.16 transfer cases (or lower ratio transfers) have probably twisted the RH long arm on your 413/samurai. I did 3 last trials season, all stock arms. Most strengthen them with some angle and/or more solid mounts, but the risk then is literally ripping the alloy transfer case mounts off.
Since I ran out of stock arms last interclub about 2 months ago and next season looming (first interclub comp this weekend) I harrassed "Ben" (ore username - who has made the awesome 1600 vitara conversion kits, rear disc conversion kits and body lift kits for 413s and samurai's, jimnys also I believe) into coming up with decent transfer case mount....
This is what I picked up last weekend....

Stock arms (long one twisted  ) and the new powdercoated arms from Ben. Plainly obvious is the extra points the arms pick up on the t/c. Hardware is supplied for a full bolt in installation.

Due to no body lift (class rules) I had to install it with RH arm attached to t/c and bolt on the LH one once in the zuk, so no pre bolted up pics
These are as good as I could get lying under it tonight

Uprating the arms meant uprating the soft as hell factory rubber mounts, who better to source some mounts off than those good guys at http://www.landroverspares.co.nz

Factory series 2/3 engine mounts are an ideal size - a little bit of trimming with the grinder and whammo, bullet proof mounts 8)

First test this weekend. Specs of SJ413 are J18 Engine (1800cc baleno efi twincam), Vitara 4 speed auto, 4.16 rockhopper transfer, 413 axles, 31" tyres

PM Ben for more info

Thats look real nice. I used te Landrover Mounts for years, they are defiently the best off the shelve mount I have found.

I may have to look into this mod when I finally get an SJ as I have ripped the side out of a transfer case on a few occasions but I imaging this will solve the issue

Gidday Guys. T/C mounts: are you talking L/R Series as in from the 1960's or Disco? ta

series 2A/3 Land rover engine mounts, diameter smaller than Disco/rangy engine mounts, ie similar strength, but less to chop out to fit inside the zuk chassis mounts. PM me if you need some
