I know this is going to polarize people's opinions but I'm new to this and want to try and purchase the right tyres the first time!
I have a 2000 Jimny with a 3" suspension lift (no body lift) and soon custom front & rear bars (work in progress).
I'm pretty sure Kumho KL71's are the ticket for NZ's terrain (mud, dirt, riverbed & seal).
It's the size that has me stumped - I was going to go for 31's but I know that some people think they're too big and regret going that large (yes, that might sound crazy but it's true).
So... which size:
205/75
215/75
225/75
31"?
Especially keen to hear from anyone who has flip/floped back and forth after going "too large".

Re: Best NZ tyres for a Jimny!
If you are in Wellington I have some 225/75/16 on Suzuki rims you could try on if you want. They are about 29.5 inches tall.

Thanks for the reply hard yakka but I'm in chch. How do you find those anyway?
Re: Best NZ tyres for a Jimny!
I have some 225-75 r16's on my Vitara, as said before they measure 29.5". They rub a bit on articulation and so on, nothing major. But mine is standard height etc. I would say they would be too big for a Jimny. A club member has one and has 28" tyres. Not sure on the metric side of things. with a 50mm suspension lift (from memory) and they seem alright.
Off sets on wheels will play a big part too. Good luck
