Evening,
While driving to work tonight I noticed the glow plug light on the dash flickering on and off, sometimes very dim.
It was driving okay, didn't notice any out of place noises or decreased performance of the engine.
Got to work, turned the engine off, sat for a bit, started it up again and it did it again.
Truck is an 89 GQ Safari, LWB, non turbo.
Has anyone else struck this issue and come to some sort of resolution?
Thanks

Also just noticed now that the glow plug relay clicks in time when the dash light turns off, would this indicate that the relay is broken?

Re: TD42 Glow plug dash light
Might be like the TD27, where the glow plugs still pulse on/off when engine water temp is cold/cool. Has a seperate temp sensor for this
If you break it... build it stronger.
Re: TD42 Glow plug dash light
The engine water temperature should already be fairly warm though, I'd been driving for about 10-15 minutes by the time I noticed the glow plug light come on.

Yeah, just thinking it could be a dicky temp sensor, a stab in the dark really but possible.

Cheers for your assistance, will have a look for the temp sensor and replace it if need be.
Anyone else got other ideas of what would cause this?

have you had water in the cab lately as the control for the glow goes though by the acc pedal. mine got wet and failed completely, under the fuse pannel.

I'm fairly certain that there's been no water in the cab, bar rain particles.
Did you get the same symptoms when it failed?
