Mechanical Air Compressor (self oiler) for sale

Post by Weemsy »

ive got a single cylinder mechanical compressor here, its got its own sump etc for lubrication.

Electric clutch operation on a double v belt drive pulley.

Was fitted to a Suzuki SJ410 or 413 ??? and worked perfectly. has good compression.

It has a mounting bracket attached to the base.

Its made by 'Clayton DeWandre' and its probably quite old.

$250

Where does it bolt to the engine? Can the bracket be removed? can the pulley be replaced easily with multi v?

the bracket appears to be part of the base of the pump, but it wouldnt be too much to make up a flat plate to replace it.

looks like the pulley is like a normal air con type.

They used these air pumps on a lot of the earlier smaller English trucks, such as the D series Ford, Leyland, & TK Bedfords etc, so they are quite old.

These were fitted to the old Commers and Dodges with Perkins engines I used to work on in the late 70's. A good one is a good one, but yours must be a much later model or has been coverted somehow for its lubrication. Every one I ever saw was pressure oil fed from the main engine with a free flow of the used oil back to the main engine sump. $200 including tank and lines etc. is an excellent deal I'd have thought, much more reliable than the aircon pump I use. cheers

Hi Gordon, sorry to get off topic here but did you have the privilege to work on the TS3's, my chest still hurts when I think about doing a De-Coke or replacing a Supercharger, not a good job if you had a Hangover. In there day they where a bloody good motor.

THOSE WHERE THE DAYS,

FITZY.

I sure did Fitzy, I did my time at a Chrysler/Rootes dealership, truck division, starting 1974 and I had black oil stains to my armpits for years, but still dreamed of the rumoured, but never to be seen, Ts4!!
