noisey whine???

Post by hookie »

hey guys first time poster, a lot of great stuff on here tho,

my Y60 has a whine which starts at over 50kph and in 3rd and continues to get more high pitch as you go through the gears, it stops upon deacceleration and coasting and doesnt appear to happen in 1st and 2nd, i also cant nail it down to either the diff or gearbox i have checked for tail shaft and UV play and the backlash doesnt appear to be abnormal in the diff also no metal shavings in any of the oils, sorry for the novel any ideas?

no sure as its nissan but sounds similar noise to when my toymota transfer case went (noise was caused by hardner being worn off the gears)
