Post by te_rarawa »

hay guys i have a d21 92 navara 4wd ute.
have recently found my transfer case has packed up. its making a good whine while driving underload and have pin pointed it to the case. now does any transfer case work off any d21 or will it have to be a certain model??? will one of a terrano fit??? and will one of an auto fit??? i just wanna get a transfer case and slap it in without any hick ups.

cheers

The transfer off an auto has a bigger input spline. I have fitted a v6 auto transfer case to my TD27t manuel, but needed to change the input spline over, which required splitting the transfer case. I know that the v6 auto transfer case has a stronger chain in it, thats why I used it.
Are you aware that the transfer case has a seperate oil fill and drain bung?
Hope this helps
Jeremy
If you break it... build it stronger.

Yes, at the back of the case, one above the other from memory and a shit of a place to access the top one too.
Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.
