newbie with what is that dam button question?!
Hi guys,
Just picked myself up a 94 terrano 2.7 diesel manual truck a couple of days ago. Only done a short little road trip from buying it up in auckland back to home in Queenstown but pretty chuffed so far, had heaps more grunt than was expecting and seems to go pretty smoothly.
The whole way down though I was doing my nut in trying to work out what the button to the left of the steering wheel does. Its a pull out button that has a picture of a transmission on it (think thats what it is anyways). If it wasnt a diesel would have guessed it was the choke. 4hrs searching on the internet and i'm still no closer to finding out what it is.
Will some one please put me out my misery and tell me what the dam it is?!
Thanks heaps
Henry

Re: newbie with what is that dam button question?!
also been use full when stuck so you can have wheels spinning slightly and get out and push haha
Re: newbie with what is that dam button question?!
I have used mine for cruise control on the motorway, doesn't disengage when you hit the brake though
Hand throttle, used for warm up or charging flat battery or uneven ground much smother than the foot.
Cheers,

I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!

Our old man used it to set the speed on the farm truck then let us kids steer while he was on the trailer when feeding out.

If it doesnt work dont worry as mine didn't. they are sometimes disconnected. It is supposed to be a hand throttle. It is a pull and twist to lock type.
Re: newbie with what is that dam button question?!
Ull want it in Qtwn in winter, go start it up in the morning, crank the idle up a bit aswell as the heater and demister.Go inside finish ya Coffee and toast, go back outside, revin its tits off but cosy warm and frost free windows.

Re: newbie with what is that dam button question?!
it is a hand throttle use it while the engine is warming up so the engine runs smoother and when it is warm drop the revs back down to normal again usually only need to increase the revs by less than 100 rpm to get rid of the shudder
my 4wd is not a truck

Also real handy on steep hill starts when the hand-brake won't hold. Keep ya right foot on the brake and wind up the revs a little so it doesn't stall when you let the clutch in....
