LJ Project Sandy
Re: LJ Project Sandy
Well I wanted to go watch the boys play at MWC, but some small truck obsessed alter ego of mine made me stay home and sand paint.
I got sick of sanding the interior and decided to get the exterior preped . All those features that make the zuk so cool, also make it a royal pain in the biarch to sand up..
anyways , the leaper bonnet.

and cured this evening. I know have all the exterior of the tub all in primer. Hopefully I can finish the interior tomorrow and move on the the front guards.

another day of sanding and priming.
Only the dash to do and the interior is completely finished........... plus hit the few spots I have missed with the primer.

Re: LJ Project Sandy
I havent had as much time this week as i would like on the LJ.
damm clients changing deadlines and making me work overtime.
everynight this week
and tomorrow
but work still progresses.
the leaper front clip.

and a little while later , after copping an ear full from the land lady about spray painting at midnight .

Also learned why you have to keep your spray gun really clean. it blocked up on me tonight and i had to tip out 150mls of unsprayed paint .
but at least the progress looks good. And all the exterior yellow has gone

tomorrow evenings mission is to pull off the front clip and bonnet

Nice work.
Wish I had the patience for panel work. I just tend to bend them, scratch them and generally f#$k them

I hate panel work with a passion. I swore after the last zuk I would never do it agian.

But I'm also too much of a scroge to pay someone to do what I can do.
leaves me more $$ for mods .

Same
Hate it, but no way could I ever afford to pay someone to do what I am doing in my shed
Its the vision of the finished result that drives me

Yep got the cool reversing mirror , but previous experience tells me that a folded down windscreen generally results in a slap in the face, from a passing gorse bush.

Anywho work has progressed.
The Firewall is painted inner and outer in Black
All the tricky spots in the cab/tub have been done in black in preparation for the Jurassic treatment.

Spent hours filling all the little holes in the tub and bogging up the dents in the rear corner and rear light clip.
I'm 80% happy with my work , only a couple of small spots that need attention after being highlighted by paint.

Split the front clip after much dilemmia about weather or not I should . But glad I did, as the joins between the panels had fark all paint on them

Got one side all prepped and painted up . Just needs some rubber spray.

Cut/Ground off the crap chassis mounts/spot mounts and a-frame garbage off the bulbar and used the left over primmer on it and the side bars.

Have a baby winch arriving this week

Much respect to panel beaters :hail: My ams are aching and fingers raw.
The Front Clip is fully prepared , I will reassemble it tomorrow , then seam seal and Paint

Tail gate ready for its inner rubber liner coat , will be done at the same time as the the interior.

Gonna have to hurry up man, it is nearly yesterday.
Its really looking good, especially the 2 pound winch
But they dont get stuck, so its actually only an ornament like the bonnet

Busted out the seam sealer this morning , used up all the rest of my black paint.
Then Got Jurassic

Tail gate and Front clip back to together and treated

Interior Done

Im really happy with the result , but of course i managed to miss a couple of small spots

The Raptor Liner was sourced through "Supreme Panel and Paint Works" in Hamilton. Email: sppw@vodaphone.co.nz
It is excellent product , and priced accordingly

Dan (Mudslut) has been very helpful with sourcing these hard to find items.
