Yes it will fit, and yes the parts are all available to do the conversion.

The standard G-series box is not a long-term strong solution, but they are cheap so if you don't thrash it and don't mind replacing gearboxes periodically then its all good.

Alternatively use the R-series box from a later surf and you should end up never having to change, they are much stronger.

Diffs, 4.5 and higher (4.3, 4.1 etc) should be fine, but 4.88 and 5.29 will wear out due to small pinion teeth if you nail it a lot.

Have a look at marks4wd.com and dellow.com.au for adaption parts, then ask me about them - I'm about to order some of the Marks bits and do a V8 to 'lux box myself :)

I used a dellow kit in my cruiser
it picked up and reused all the cruiser parts, clutch fork and rubber boot, piviot, slave cylinder mount, inspection cover on the bottem. I robbed it off another truck so it was secondhand but it made for an easy conversion for a lay person that hates mucking around under vehicles.

Cheers for the info Steve, looking at that i'll need to raise around $1800.00 for the conversion kit/clutch/engine mounts, and still want to rebuild the 350 itself..lol..good thing she's a longish term project.

I checked on trademe for a Lexus 1UZFE conversion cost.

1UZFE V8 Engine $995
Engine loom and Link ECU $2100
9.5in clutch and pressure plate $700
Bellhousing adapter $320
Flywheel $500
1UZFE plug leads and plugs $265
1UZFE cambelt $70
1UZFE waterpump $110

Total $5060. You could save $1500 if you purchased a loom and AFM and wired up the factory computer, this would bring the price down to $3500.

On top of that there would be bits and pieces, drive shaft changes if the gearbox moves. Exhaust, some fuel lines, gauge wiring etc etc but this would be the same for any engine swap.

Matt.

i've been talking to a few guy's and they said that the lexus wre having oil pressure problem's.?.im not sure if this is true which is why i opted for the chev, least this way by rebuilding the 350 i know the internal's are all new and should give me years of off roading, even if i eventually found some 9" diff's one day, there is a cheap adapter for the transfer to enclose the oil while leaving a short shaft for conecting a auto trans, so i might be done with it and go auto anyway rather than the manual conv.

I dunno much about chevs and engines but when I did my conversion my mate told me to weld the pickup onto the bottom of the oil pump. He had an engine in bits in his shed that he was rebuilding that the pickup had fallen off. A couple of others have also mentioned it to me since.

......I can only make birdshit with a welder so I got him to tack mine on

The 350 needed more done to it than i could afford, so i've got the supra motor in and just about driving, she run's sweet..just waiting on a flywheel then it's complete apart from some tidying up on the wiring..

She's the non turbo 5M, dont need xtra crap to break with the temp's and RPM's, using the supra bellhousing on the G52 hilux box, easy conversion thats for sure.
