TD27eti Max RPM

Post by R_ace-link »

Hi Guys,

I haven't gotten my Tacho sorted since engine swap. ( from a YD25 to a TD27eti)
but what I wanted to know is, what is the MAX RPM a TD27eti (manual Gearbox) makes?

or how do I get my Tacho sorted?

regards,
Race

Rev her till she stops revving no more...

Kinda serious to be honest, most diesels will flat rev, my TD27 (mechanical pump though) will only rev to around 5k The motor will handle that easily its just the way diesels work that will stop it reving further.

you dont need to rev a diesel to 5000rpm. 3-3500 is the max you need. most diesels make peak torque and power between 1700-2500.anything after that you just loose power. revving that high is a waste of time and not the best for the diesel
needs more curry

Yeah but he didn't ask where his motor makes the best power, he asked whats the max RPM it will do.

Peak HP of a Diesel could be 5k if it was tuned for it. My TD27 makes best power from 2k - 3.5k

Also HP is just torque x RPM so even if you get a torque drop off after a certain RPM doesn't mean you wont make more HP further on in the rev range.

This might help... I had a SD23 in my Navara and put in the TD27t. To get the rev counter to work I had to use the EGR computer (silver box in rear left panel of Teranos) as the rpm sensor on the TD27t is wired into this, as well as the rev counter. You need to give this box a 12vdc supply. I also used a Terrano rev counter as they were different internals. I can dig out the pinout picture if you need it

okay guys,
but right now I'm driving without the tacho, so I really do not know what kind of RPM I'm hitting :?: .
I don't really need the HP figures, just the MAX RPM the TD27eti makes ( manual gearbox). But thanks for all the input, could be help full.

I will be very grateful if you could send me the pin out picture.
I do have the terrano ECU with the whole wiring loom. only prob is I'm not that electronically minded, more mechanically. but I'll ask a friend to help me out.

thanks guys
