Ok folks, heading up to Hanmer tonight so will be offline. We have 9 confirmed entries which is a bit slack
but the guys that have entered will have a ball and are guaranteed some great prizes
We will be taking enties right up until the event starts so if any of you decide you want to give it a go then just rock up. The park will be open on sunday if any of you want to have a go at the courses without the pressure of competition. For those of you that are coming to help out please remember to bring your radios.
See you there

Though I didn't do the night hazards last night. Ash and I did the 10 day hazards today. (though one was pulled, deemed to tough on gear)
I'd just like to say a BIG thanks to Jase, Frank, Rick and all their marshalls.
What an AWESOME DAY!!
The tracks were farking amazing to put it mildly.
You guys must of put in so much of an effort to get them made. Wicked stuff!!!
I'm still buzzing from it..
Thanks again!

Re: "Ironman 4x4 Thermal Thunder" Winch Challenge 14-15 Octo
Great tracks - best course marking I've seen - amazing amount of work must have gone in to the setting up! Talk about a REAL winch challenge though - multiple winches on most stages - 3 re-sets on one hill alone, then two more winch sections on the same stage. And definitely the most work the ground anchor has done! I'd have to say some of the courses were too hard for us in a standard cruiser (only mod is a lockright in the rear) with well worn 32in tyres, so 4 DNF's as a result, but even the top trucks didn't find it easy. Well done guys - and especially the marshals who were out in pretty unpleasant weather, but were all very friendly and helpful.
Re: "Ironman 4x4 Thermal Thunder" Winch Challenge 14-15 Octo
great work guys, to all those that missed this was a real winch challenge
with a capital WINCH, every stage have at least two winches some had as
many as five or six
this one had it all, will post some vids later
thanks to all the marshals, and sponsors will be back for next year.

Re: "Ironman 4x4 Thermal Thunder" Winch Challenge 14-15 Octo
Well have to be happy with that. The event went really well. After a heavy downpour on Friday afternoon it really slicked the place up. We had set the stages to be hard as it was, so the rain probably made them twice as hard again
. We ran 3 stages in the rain on Friday night, 2 with winch sections and the 3rd stage was a "maybe" winch. Leroy Stevenson, who travelled up from Queenstown, got his truck badly stuck about half way through the 2nd stage. Ended up busting his steering box and was out for the rest of the competition. Last trucks left around midnight. Saturday started fine but the rain started again just after lunch. We had to pull one stage, due more to ambitious stage setting than the weather, but apart from that things went well. We had a prizegiving dinner on Sat night and i have to agree with Bob when he mentioned how buggered the co-drivers were
All in all it was great to watch. Big thanks to the Suzuki club and all other who came up and helped out with marshalling. We hope that the positive feedback from this event will encourage more competitors next time.

Cheers for that Jase. And thanks again for an awesome event.
What a way to finish the series.
Do you know who took out the Mainland Winch Series for the year in each of the classes?
Cheers.
