Heading either West or East of Double corner bridge @ present is no place for newbies (read soft, soft, soft pea-shingle and deep scoured holes after recent flooding); add to that profile nesting birds and it would be very unwise to proceed on this course.
I don't know anything about the river and its sourounds your using down there but I know sensitive ecological (and paticularly nesting/breeding) area's and 4wd's don't mix to well for the sake of the enviroment and for the sake of public relations?

Don't you think you guys should perhaps discuss this through PM's or a phonecall instead of arguing over the ORE sight?????? I'm sure everyone doesn't need to hear this.

What arguing? - I read difference of opinion, respect for the same, and judge transparent process a core ethos of ORE.
Leithfield wrote:In good concience, and in my capacity as ORE 4x4 assoc. Southern PRO, I can not support the proposed route as it currently stands; in respect of the same I will subsequently withdraw from training day if not re-routed, and wish all attending a safe and pleasant journey.
The PC beurocratic F&^%wits have got hold of you Kev... quick, quote some Monty Python before you get swallowed by the system

Simply honouring the office I was elected to represent Steve ... as Monty would put it:
Arthur: "Listen, lad. I built this kingdom up from nothing. When I started here, all there was was swamp. Other kings said I was daft to build a castle on a swamp, but I built it all the same, just to show 'em. It sank into the swamp. So, I built a second one. That sank into the swamp. So I built a third one. That burned down, fell over, then sank into the swamp. But the fourth one... stayed up! And that's what you're gonna get, lad: the strongest castle in these islands".

New route is sh1 to stringer's. Have spoken wth smokey tonite, meeting at Amberly Mobil at 10am for 1015 sharp departure to river. Can we get an idea of who is coming to gauge numbers. Would also like some experienced drivers capable of teaching to pm me or smokey if you want to help.

rain, hail, sleet or snow, we go!
In an earlier post I referred to THE PLAN, well the Plan has changed, but not by much. Meeting time and place to remain the same ie; Opposite Amberly Service Station (MOBIL) at 10.00am . Departing 10.15am for Waipara River Bridge State Highway 1 . We will travel up stream about one kilometer and hold our training day there.Still hope to have training finished by 1.00pm . Those wishing to pull out at this stage can do so and others that want to join us for an afternoon trip will be welcome to do so.
We will be going up to Stringers bridge.
GET DIRTY, FITZY.

Just to confirm that this trip is suitable for AT's and no snorkel, also need an opinion on the family coming along, I have a 7 1/2 month daughter who is keen to come along, any problems other than the obvious nappies anyone can see with this?
