Aaaarrrgggggghhhhhh
I hate when a good plan falls to bits.
All set to go, sponsered transport and all sorted, then ......
1 crew cant come, business commitments,
crew cheif can't come, still pretty crook and looking at surgery in Dec,
coey cant come, heading to Ohau for 5 months for work starting the week of this event,
another crew cant come, some business related golf thing
leaves me and the sponsers rep (chief cook and beverage supplier).
Up shot is, givine I have only done one other event this year we aren't going to make this one
Good bit is funds set aside for this event is now earmarked for more power/reliability. :D (thats me looking for silver lining   )
Good luck to all

We plan to come up if there's some north island trucks to play with. Otherwise. What's the point?

just come anyway Pete, you will have a blast and with less trucks it will leave plenty of time for socialising and be a sweet relaxed evening

cleared more tracks today and opened up an old one that should test your testicles out

Hey Skid. We plan to be there, problem is I may be moving to the states on the 29th. Worst case my co-ey and a mate should be there wrecking my truck. So I guess thats 2 North Island trucks.

Because rallywoods is one of the best places you will ever drive your truck  Some people may get bored of it but everyone gets bored of a super model after a while anyway

Ok skid. I'm in.
Me co driver is popping round tomorrow night. If he doesn't want to sign the entry form and head up there, I'll go up on me own and ask someone up there if they'll be me winch bitch.
Bob (quadracer). I wasn't being hard on skid. I was just trying to rark up the north island folk, much the same as turoa was. :D

Well so far after moving emails around into new folders, I only have 4 entries.
Pete said he's doing his today or tomorrow, so that will only make 5

fairly piss poor and makes me wonder why the hell we even bother

So as I've asked before, please post up on here if you are intending to enter or are at least thinking about it.

The South Island competitors have probably booked the ferry etc, so it would be a shame to pull the pin on them coz of the lack of entries from others :(

At this stage if Pete enters then the SI guys will win the North/South Challenge by default coz they will have a team.

Don't take it personal Skid. New events often struggle and event numbers have been down all year. Unfortunatly most of the usual suspects live Hamilton north with most around Aucks and a few of us further north. It makes for a major undertaking to come. I was dead set keen and keen to support a new event but logic prevents me from travelling 800+ ks, each way, taking a week off work and committing over $1000 to come down with no crew and a stand in coey.  I specifically didn't go to Manukau to come to your event. Hope you get the numbers to run, as I'm sure it'll go well. Get a few raving and chances are more will arrive next time.

You get my vote for at least standing up to run an event to start with.

without commitment to travel for the sport winch challenging will become a north of auckland sport, there is a unique chance here for the 2 islands to meet in the middle, when comparing distance traveled the south island boys have got the smelly end of the stick.
come on guys doooo iiiitttt

to be honest, if I get one more north island entry, then its a go

I only have you Tim and one other from the NI who is Ken McFadyen from Levin who is not a usual competitor.

Got a phone call tonight to confirm that the 4th SI entry is on the way and if 2s enters, that makes 5 from down there.

If theres no more entries, then I guess it will be a very relaxed weekend with more social time and nobody will be under too much stress

To be honest, its not worth me taking 5 days off work, borrow another navi-who has to leave his own business for 3 days, +$500 bucks worth of gas to come down & race 6 other trucks :?

Especially when how many are going to be in challenge class?

That $720 can pay for quite a few social weekends four wheeling up here.

It would be hard to swing reading that.
5 days off work for anyone would be a killer. And then the cost of fuel and gear on top of that.
My co driver has to take time off work as well. And money is tight for him too.
I feel lucky to be able to go.

I'm really looking forward to this one. Competing with few trucks like skids says will make it relaxing. Not to mention meeting a couple of people I've known on here for years for the first time.
