Well I managed to tow a nissan and a toyota for the day, not too bad if I may say so myself and just a wee bitty of pannel dammage:shock:
All in all a fantastic trip, and a great bunch of guys n gals, thanks to all.

Must say that the SWB Paj (asian driver, forgot his name, infact I forgot most names from today already :? ) did very well indeed with all the obsticals.

Just need a set of rubber flares now.

I'll second that, Frank did exceptionally well, I was starting to think he had diff lockers or something, sure put me to shame. Don't know why I bothered buying a solid axle surf.

Sorry I let the team down Rik.

I also had a great time :D (silly grin constantly). Thanks to Al and everyone else there for a wicked day.

Yep great day. Learnt a few lessons for next weekend in keeping the group together. Only needed towing twice first time was the last of a sersis of mudholes at the start and that river I was trying to climb out that steep bank but it was a little too deep near t so backed off. Soon as I was movng she got sucked into the loose peagravel. Best mudhole was at the deadend of a track that no one else got to do, it took me almost five minutes to get thru that with changing gears between 1st and reverse.

I was really dissapointed in not being able to attend this trip, makes it all the more bitter hearing how good a time everyone had, I see Albundy you are talking about the lessons learned for next weekend, is there another trip comming that would be suitable for the same level of vehicle and or driver.

Look here

http://www.offroadexpress.co.nz/modules ... pic&t=3156

Its going to be a training day up the Waipara. I belive will be suitable for any driver, and all vehicles.

By the sounds of it we will get split into groups with experienced recoverererers :-)

Check through that thread above, it clarifies things.

Did anyone else notice too that the Ecan officer was there at the beginning to check up on us?

I wonder if they visit this site to see where we are going to be driving, so they can monitor our actions, or was it just a chance visit?
Somehow I got the impression that he knew we were going to be there.

Perhaps something to keep in mind for future trips.

Makes you wonder if this section of the forums (planning a trip) should be only viewable to payed members of the board. Its a bit unnerving to think that we are being watched this closely :?

When does the dirt digging start

Yup, I agree Leithfield, and it was good to see he was more than happy with the planned route of Al's too.

Kinda puts us in the good books already. Lets keep it up.
