I voted against removing access. At the end of the day though its not a website poll that needs convincing. It's the council. "At this time, we don't want the irresponsible minority ruining it for the majority but if behaviour does not improve, the council will look to further restrict vehicle access or stop it completely.''

Is it that those drivers driving where they shouldn't don't know they shouldn't or are they simply muppets?

Very true. But the council could very likely use the poll as a justification "overwhelming public comment...." if it suited them...

I'd love to go down to welly with the family one day and go for a drive, this would be a shame if it gets closed off.

I think perhaps it should be patrolled better and come down hard on people who are spoiling the area.

Are there signs every 20m or so saying don't go past this sign etc?

sadly though the wellington mayor and her council are probably down with closing it to vehicles, though. apparently they put a stop to targa visiting this year? dunno.
either way, stink if the minority ruin it for everyone else.

The problem is, that the motorized users are the minority here!

Don't get me wrong, I love Red Rocks, the 1st 4x4 trip I ever did was there, and have done numerous trips there since, but always using common sense when considering where to drive.

The real problem is the even smaller minority that gets associated with our minority that is doing these stupid and thoughtless acts need to be taught that if ya abuse it, we all lose it. But there type, just don't care, they will just move on to the next nature reserve of public park and carry on there idiocy

I have also voted to keep it open!! cause I enjoy my minority!!!

minority of a minority i guess then :)
Hope it stays open too. there's no reason that everyone can't get along out there.

The fishing groups have picked it up and are backing full access. Maybe they are not a minority.

in some respects im for closing it .......not sure how this will effect Bach owners (beer cruiser) or seal watch business but then 4wd clubs will get access so the trips controlled and makes it a worth while visit but the main thought Ive had is the paua will get to spawn and multiply again we've all seen the same poachers out there every weekend for fark knows how many years now ......my personal thoughts people don't be offended

Couldnt agree more taz, if they close it to the public, then im sure clubs will be able to get access, and who can argue with the poachers bit? because we all know its true.

hey guys just had a thought all that would be needed would be low posts with rope between to stop people driving or riding through the wrong areas how difficult would that be to organise similar to what they have at mount maunganui around the sand dunes there
my 4wd is not a truck

old mercedes never die but sometimes they do need some love

older cars are good, mercedes are better, older mercedes are the best
