Well I will get in first with this one....
Spent the day in Woodhill on patrol, gave the new PTO winch a workout thanks to Simon and Steve....
However had a brain fade at the first self recovery of the day....
Truck was over the door sills in water in a rather deep hole (Told later it was probably the second deepest in the park).
My 5 year old was freaking out in the back seat..all he could see was water...
Pulled thru it until the rope was at the wrong angle....
Reset but couldn't get the PTO to winch any more....
Boy still bawling in the back of the truck.....
So hooked up the electric to Simon and pulled myself out.
Not sure why the PTO wasn't working....
Maybe something had broken....Bit more driving and at the stop for lunch had a looksie at the winch.
Everything o.k so ran it.....Then I realized my error...
Got all my levers muddled up and ended up not driving the winch at all......
So there was no fault but me DOH....
Told the lads and had a laugh...... So before Simon / Steve posts something.. I will get in first.
Even had to go wading in the water and ended up with wet shorts all day......
Never mind...
I will also get some ribbing at club nite.....

Simon to post vids of the day I am sure !!!!
Cheers Calvin

Yes Calvin, brain fart would sum up your first recovery well
We had a good day. I spent most of it leading so no footage of me. Steve sent me some of his pictures and i have incorporated them into my video of the the day 8)
Not much there but it will show some of our antics.
Did some winching down hill in the canyon :o
Worst part of the day was we had a Land Rover with us, we saw under his bonnet lots
Steve had no diff locks due to a split air line that couldn't be repaired on the side of the track. Land Rover had a leaking front diff lock air line that he fixed at lunch.
Explored some new tracks that Roger had made a couple of weeks ago so expanded the knowledge of the extensive tracks at the Park.
Terrano went well with no issues or breakages, so happy with that. Admittedly we were taking it real easy today, as i don't have a lot of time for repairs before Mudfest.
Best pictures :P

P.S, Had time Friday night to replace the rear UJ cross bearing on Drurban's Mu for him 8)

Spent saturday stuck in a quicksand bog, finally got towed out by a friendly farmers tractor, got my truck up on the dry land and found the front driveshaft had just had a fight with the sump, and all my oil and driveshaft ended up on the ground. Then a slow tow home behind my mates truck. awsome day

BIG Thanks goes to Sibainmud for doing my back UJ cross bearing which has bothered me for some time and it also hung in there for a while too which is a big bonus too :D. slowly ticking off the things to do on the truck.

Also another big thumbs up for all the other things Sibainmud has done to my truck.

There are still a few things I need help with but at this stage Iam happy with were it is at.

Cheers.

Cheers,
Man that's how it was for our day up the Maungatuks, both Discos with faulty coils, mine exploded out all the oil even  Bosch conversion for now I am thinking.

Our trip was ok for the first 20mins then one Disco stopped, faulty coil....replaced with a second hand one and she was back going. Then to find the token Surf and token Terrano both had no 4wd at the bottom of a mean hill that we had to come back up. I towed the surf out, then backed up to tow the Terrano, nek minnit......truck died, a quiet death, coil had a fit, got hot and pissed out all it's oil.....chucked in a faulty coil to get me home, but that just caused havoc, down to what felt like 2 cylinders most of the way and race car looking exhaust farts from behind......

Good day though

I always snatch using a chain as it doesn't fly if something breaks.
