What to buy? And what is best?

I am in the market for a 4WD. Looking to spend up to $8000 with mods. I have a few ideas so far:
-A 130 series with a 60 series chassis.
-A 130 series with rear difflock and a mild lift.
-A 1992ish Land Cruiser Prado 7 seater with factory rear diff lock.

I cant decide between the 1KZ and 2LT. I understand the 1KZ is most powerful but the 2L seems to be easier to mod and more fuel efficient. But I also know the 2L's aren't exactly known for being reliable. So which engine would you suggest?

Also I am interested in putting a bench seat in the front if I get a 130 series. Has anyone else done this? And if it wont clear the auto shifter I was thinking of going column shift auto?

They are about as reliable as each other.

my opinion, prado with 1kz. pre 93 I think have radius arms and factory locker if you can find one. hate the 2.4 in any configuration . or skip the lot and buy a safari.

That truck is awesome, but want something a bit nicer. Haha I realise nice and 4WD are rarely used together but I still want to be able take it into town and stuff and not look to rough.

Can anyone help me with the column shift idea? I have seen a couple of 2.4 diesel 2wd hiluxs with column shift manual. Do you think that setup could be used in the 4wd? Or if I went auto is it a linkage setup or electronic?

If it were me id go for a 92ish Prado with a 1KZ-TE in it....im going to upgrade to 1 at sometime when the right one comes along

I have a 93 prado with factory rear e locker 1kzte motor that I am thinking of selling.. 2" old men emu lift kit, custom 2.5" exhaust from the turbo to the tip if u interested..
