Alrighty, another Terrano diesel question . . .
Is the water pump on the Nissan GQ's TD42t a direct swap for the Terrano's TD27t water pump?
OK, I know there's the big fan coupling on the front of the Terrano's pump, but as I want to run an electric fan on my Terrano, I don't need or want the viscous coupling there taking up space and slowing things down.
Unless the coupling can be separated from the pump, though the factory manual says no.

Hey mate,
I have already done what you have done. Use your old water pump, you will just have to cut the viscous coupling off (or smash it off like I did) Then cut the steel shaft as short as you can go to give clearance behind the radiator for fans.
I then pinched a set of twin electric fans out of a falcoon wagon from pickapart for $30 cut the shrouds a bit to mate to the terrano radiator then put some double sided foam around the edge of the fans to stop them cutting into the ally radiator and just cable tied them into place.
Also got two of the Jaycar programmable tempeature switches to turn the fans on and off with one coming on at a lower temp than the other and then both on for when she's hot. Also put in a manual overide switch so I can either manually turn fans on, off or auto.
Hope that helps a bit.
Cheers

Re: Terrano & GQ water pumps?
Thanks! Great info.
Saves me having to drop $$$ on a replacement water pump.
How hard was it to smash off!? What smashing technique did you use - just crack the b'jesus out of it? No damage to the pulley underneath?
Cheers

Disassemble the viscous coupling then I held it in a vice and cracked it off. It's only thin ally so breaks pretty easy
