FJ40 Bush Truck Project
Re: FJ40 Bush Truck Project
amazing how you can bolt things on all day long and acheive nothing, but just add a couple of litres of paint and it changes everything, looks awesome.. well done..

Yeah, there has been so much work go into this truck to get it to this stage and then the paint and fitting painted beadlock rims has really made a significant visual difference. Wont be that shiney for long though dont worry

Drove the truck out into the sun today and finished off the interior with some Hippo Liner. Used the roller with a foam bit to apply the Hippo Liner which gives this sweet textured surface:

Re: FJ40 Bush Truck Project
Been spending the last week ticking off the finishing touches getting it ready for the maiden outing. Boring but essential stuff like bolting seats back in, lap bets... and a skull gear stick lever

Redid the foam on the roll cage and a few other bits n bobs before taking it back out to Ron's today to fit the painted doors and windscreen:

Fitted rear view mirrors (cheers ClassicCruiser Spares
), made up internal rubber mud guards (to keep mud out of engine bay) you get the idea...

That's basically it (last opportunity to work on it) before the Ahuroa Safari in two weeks time.
PS. If anyone is interested in getting a snorkel made Ron custom built mine plus has done a twin set up (and twin exhausts) for a 70 Series, plus 3 Zuki's. Mine is 75mm Exhaust tube and while you cant see the joins in the finished product it has some bends welded in. He also does Bar work (and obviously panel and paint).
PM me if you are interested in getting in contact with Ron.

Well, today is the day.
First run on the new set up - no testing done...
Amping to see how it performs -#1 success factor for me will be to drive it back onto the trailer at the end of an awesome day.
Will post up some dirty pics tomorrow

Tha. Is a cleaver point. The back may sink less with its own drive line.
Latest mod, pin stripes, hit the same branch I did on the way in on the way out.

Only things I really want to do are a top/cover of some sort and fit the PTO winch (which requires new headers and mod of the front of the chassis).
