FS: 1994 V8i Land Rover Discovery - AKL - offers

Post by SP450andLE »

Selling on behalf of friends of mine:

1994 V8i Land Rover Discovery auto; as is, where is.

It is is reasonable condition, the interior is perfect apart from a tear in the driver's seat.
The exterior has paint fade in some places, but most of it would come up fine with a cut/polish/wax.

It drives great, and handles as it should, but it idles rough when warm, and blows a bit of black smoke at idle, so is probably just a simple (over)fuelling issue.

It pulls well, and would be perfect for a tow vehicle (it has a tow bar, as well as a warning light system that tells you if the trailer lights are working - handy! ).

Tyres are all reasonable, with a great condition spare.

It has great flex from standard, and could be turned into an offroad hack/beast quite easily.

The Discos are full-time 4wd, with a centre diff-lock, and high- & low-range gearings.

Despite being a V8, it can be very economical, as the V8 has enough power to idle the vehicle around, without using heaps of throttle to get it moving.

Test drives are welcome, just chuck me a PM if you are interested.

Any offer will be considered, so long as it doesn't involve half of a mince and cheese pie...

Photos to come...

A guy I know has just bought one of these last week. Exact same specs ('94 V8). Had a couple of dings and bruises (nothing really out of control). Paid $1300 for it, is that the sort of cash they are expecting?

if its running rough and the paint isnt that flash they probably dont want to get their hopes up too high, $1 reserve on trademe might be there best bet to get some interest

Well I drove it for quite a few KMs, and it used next to no fuel...

And Rok, $1300 seems waaay too cheap, so that one must have been a pretty bad example...

Can we please keep this as a for sale thread, not a 'lets shove in our opinions about how good/bad/expensive/cheap this thing is' :?: :?:

Kms are 229278

W.o.F. runs out this month, but a new one may be obtained prior to sale.

Rego is paid up until 13/04/2012.

The tyre pictured is the most worn of the lot, but is probably still warrantable.

This thing is great fun to drive, and really comfy! :D

The point people are trying to make is that they just aren't worth shit these days. Have a look on trademe and see how much the other ones are selling for. Plus this one has much higher k's than most on trademe.

Well if you want to sell it, you should be prepared to sell it for what it's worth, rather than what you think it should sell for. If you don't want peoples opinions, thats fine but don't bother asking for any help again

Good advice, you could get good coin for it doing a $1 auction......Most on T/me are going for $2500+, occasionally you find some under that but not often. You will get what someone is willing to pay, hold off and you will get what you want. Good luck :)

Other way to make good coin, sell in parts if he has the time.

A bit of constructive adivce..

The law requires any second hand vehicle that is sold to have a WOF less than 30 days old. Also I think most buyers would be willing to spend a bit more on a car with a fresh WOF.

Isn't it legal is you sell it on an as is, where is basis?

And this isn't my truck (as I have mentioned), and I'm only trying yo help someone out by selling it, so if you feel like complaining about it, chuck me a PM and I'll forward what you have to say to the owners.

wof only has to be within 30 days if you're an RMVT or whatever they're called right now, isn't it? if so, I've sold more vehicles that I have fingers and toes illegally. hah.

also, slam a price on it or you'll get lowballers. you can pick these up anywhere from a $500 to $8k for a disco 1 at the moment. depends on condition, spec, all sorts. you can get low km ones that are utter rubbish, or high kays ones that are amazingly nice. rotten ones. good ones. bad ones.
alternatively list it at $2500 no reserve, paint a fair description of it. take good pictures, answer any queries well, and you'll sell it piece of piss.
/trade the lada on it :D

I tried to sell a vehicle just off offers once as I wasn't sure what it was worth.

Waste of time man.

Tell your mate to slap a price on it. If it is to much, it won't sell. Keep dropping it till it does. Simple as!
