Not as much done as I would of liked, but all good never the less :D
Finished the dash board and all the instruments. Ran a 6mm 2 ply wire through a 50amp breaker and put in the triple accessories sockets. Now I can run an 800watt inverter straight out of the dash and probably jump start a zuk if I have to
Image

Image

Managed to get all the switches in the centre console too. Compressor, diff lock, HID spot lights and the intercooler fan.

Have started on the birds nest of wires under the bonnet. Have become tired of running wires through the firewall, so I ran a 7ply trailer flex to help.
Now I have 3 spare wires for future projects
Image

Boost controller in and intercooler installed. Had a wee play with the fuel and the rocket ship is starting to emerge.

Not a bad days work 8)

I see the boost controller has two connections (in and controlled presure out I assume) but what is the purpose of the smaller three way connector back down the line? Been looking for a boost controller for my prado and saw these are reasonably priced.

Also is the catch can an off the shelf part (from ripco or supa chump)?

Cheers.

It is where the boost tap is "teed" into the actuator line.
Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

Not controlled pressure, controlled leak off. The purpose is to leak off some of the pressure to the waste gate actuator. End result is constant 18psi boost. They can take a bit of setting up, but cheap as chips
Yip, dump is superchump. not cheap but comes with everything you need.
I will modify this system in the future as the hose runs are too short and I will fit a good length of copper tube to act as a condenser to help separate to oil from the fumes and then let it run down hill to the catch can
:)

Good effort doing all that, I hate playing around with electrics.

And the sight of your battery just scares me off

Sweet looked different to the T boost one I was going to get which works on boost pressure lifting a small ball/spring to release presure to the waste gate.

Well it has been a while since i have post here. My camera died at Christmas so my photo journalism has been on hold.
I now have a new camera that also does HD video 8)

Since my last post i have been trying to kill T2 and have attended quite a few events and not missed a single Patrol Weekend at Woodhill.
Best i could do was, 2 front 4.8 diffs and toasted a winch
I have changed diffs , both front and rear as i couldn't get a new 4.8 front in time to do a major event with the club so i was forced into putting the 4.6's in temporarily.
Now I have been busy doing preparations for a certain event over Easter weekend at Woodhill.

So here is some pictures of the new stuff i have fitted or are about to fit :P
Here's the bling,
Image

Snorkel is fitted, new exhaust that exits just in front of the rear wheel (got to love 3 doors, as it is still legal)
More pictures and video will follow in the next couple of weeks

I got it from TD Power. It was a trial one for http://scarles.co.nz/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=24_42.
If the demand is there, more will be imported. The price is a secret
Fits straight in. Triple row full alloy 8)
I have always had issues with keeping it cool after beating it for prolonged climbs and it was made worse by not running the fan shrouds after the body lift.
I think all those problems are in the past now :D

The new radiator works mint :D
The temp only goes to opening thermostat temperature only.
i was mistaken when i said it was triple row. Had a closer look, it is only double, but huge tubes
The only spike in engine temp has been on the beach doing "heli's", mind you I was up to the fifteenth rotation
Cooled down easy and quickly. Can you call the old normal running temp a spike.

So, some of the things i have done over the last few months;

Changed the front diff 3 times, the rear twice,
Upper control arm bushes,
Some CV boots,
Countless Tie Rod Ends,
Left and right quarter windows,
Fitted brand new winch and solenoid pack,
4 LED spot lights (2 at a 45deg out the front and 2 on the tailgate hooked into the reverse light switch with the power feed from the front spots),
6 marine underwater lights (3 each side).

All of the above items have been either running repairs or preparation for the Easter Teams Challenge at Woodhill.
My team only came 10th, but that was due to some running repairs needed by the other 2 team mates. T2 went flawlessly with the only breakage being a quarter window on the right side and a couple of tweaks to the torsion bars to adjust out the sag after many hours of thrashing it.
The proof was, after an eye-lignment I drove it home :P
The new Runva worked perfectly with my big cables and battery system. 50m up steep rutted hill, belly dragging in middle of the night  , then turned around and pulled a Scud up the same hill :D

Some pics :D

Front ones awesome, you can never turn more than you can see 8)
The side lights throw out 600 lumens each. Not a huge amount of light, but enough to stop the trees from moving  They were well priced......free
All of the extra lights only draw 3.9 amps combined

sibainmud wrote:Replaced turbo that let go last weekend as a couldn't be arsed doing during the week. I think the boost controller needs some attention or replacement because with it hooked up and wound out to max, can only get 14psi :(
Disconnected it will pull 22psi 8)
Trouble is, i want a nice safe 18psi :)
Had to clean all the oil out of the intercooler and the exhaust
Washed cooler with fuel-lite and took it for a hard long run down the motorway to burn the oil out of exhaust :P
Here's the turbo. Don't think the exhaust turbine is supposed on the piss :?

Cheers,

What sorta boost controller are you using?
And how is it connected?
Looks in pictures to be the tee and in cabin type like this one on trademe "http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/performance/turbos/auction-481160481.htm" ?
If so theres a couple tricks to get them going properly

One of those cheap sh!thouse leak off type. Only cost about $30 so isn't worth spending much time on at my huge charge-out rate
You can see it in this pic,
