2" Blocks To Fit Hilux

Post by Caleb »

Hi all

Ive been looking into this for a while. and since i had 2" lowering blocks in my old hilux ute 2wd.. i was thinking with my 4wd if i installed 2" blocks under all the leafs front and rear it should in theory raise it 2", i know some of you will be thinking what a silly idea etc hence why im asking for advice or possibly someone has done it before.

some reasons i dont think i shall do it is because they prob wont handle what the 4wd will be going through (i am quite hard on it at times) and also i have spoken to a friend and he reckons under hard braking you might get a little bit of shudder in the steering wheel.

Any thoughts on this? Greatly appreciated!

weve just put blocks under the back of the brother n laws truck to level out with the front and have full intention of getting certed, why would they not pass a cert?plenty of trucks lowered with these and still legal

in terms of the front end of a hilux youd also need to lengthen torque rod and possiby mod steering arms slightly but unsure as ive never looked at or seen it done to a front end

I did this on the back of my hilux when I first got it to raise it up, I wound up the Torsions in the front. It was a good quick cheap fix, but long term if your doiong this to get height then I would get some raised springs......chur

i would not do this in the front, steering torque rod will hit shit, look at front suspension and youll see what i mean

as long as you make the blocks properly there wont be any brake shuddering
you just have to make sure that you have a dowel in the bottom of the block to align it to the spring perch and a hole in the top of the block to align the spring to the block
something like this...

llllllllll llllllllllll
lllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
lllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
llllll

but then as vinceparts says its be a bitch to miss steering components

I wouldnt recoment using these to lift a truck, in a lowered ute the weight on the block is only how much the u bolts have been tighted, on a 4wd it will have the weight of the vehicle aswell, wouldnt take long to fail

Cheers for the advice..

Will def go for springs over the blocks method for sure !!
