Hi all, the guestion has been asked as to the suitability of this Training Day/Trip? . As the one who originally put their hand up to run this day I will also talk on the suitability. The Training part of the day will be suitable for all 4wd Hi/Lo range vehicles ( excludes all wheel drive cars and station wagons, I think this is how they word it on safari type tag alongs), also suitable for all age groups. (read my post on page 1) . The trip part of the day should be suitable for most vehicles and people but as with any trip the trip leader has the final say on this. When it comes to people's safety and putting others at risk I'd rather be called a so and so for not letting someone go than deal with an accident if it all goes wrong.
The training component of the day will go over safety issues associated with 4wding and trips.
FITZY.

Speaking of towhooks.
Albundy/Smokey,
Is it acceptable to have a D shackle in liew of a rear tow hook for tomorrow? I bought a hook, but need to re-drill my towbar fitting to accept the holes. Won't be able to do this before tomorrow morning.
If not, maybe we can join you on a future day?
Cheers
Mike

Yup, my thanks to the organisers and participants for making it a great day.
Bring on the next trip I say.
We have a South American boy from Chile arrive today to stay for 8 weeks or so who likes 4x4 driving, so will bringing him next time.
Good to hear you were made mobile again too Mike, and nice to meet you in person. Well done to those who assisted you. Great teamwork.
What happend to Al? Saw him pull over, but assumed it was a pit stop.

I'm happy to have a go at the report, if no one else posts one before I get it written tonight, (I’m the first trip newbie in the as issued Isuzu Bighorn pea shingle magnet).
A big thanks from me to all the organizers, and people who willingly gave their time to teach and help, for a first trip newbie you couldn’t ask for a more welcoming bunch of people.
Usual story though now I NEED to modify (bad case of height envy)
Just to highlight how bad it looks I have included a photo.

Pleased to here it was a great day and all enjoyed and learned.
Fitzy; my apologies as we tried to get someone there from Combined 4WD clubs as you suggested, but with regrets there were too many other things on with Club trips, plus 2 clubs also had training days of their own, plus it was Clean Up the Waimakariri River day so I could just get no one suitable along.
However the idea was great and next time we will get someone along as it will be good to be involved. Many thanks for the invite and my sincere apologies for a no show.
Everyone involved needs a good pat on the back for a job well done.
Cheers
Paul

Hi all, to all ORE members families and friends that turned up to make a great training day,I thank you. ALso to all members that made my job easy by assisting with training -- thanks. It was never going to be easy combining different levels of experience as some members come to us after attending other club training days. I think we managed to achieve a harmonious relationship.( big words for Leithy) .
Any Pos/Neg; feedback on my Training/Recovery leaflet would be appreciated as I have it as a word document and could be used by other members.
GOT DIRTY, FITZY.
