Three weeks out and this is how its looking:

Just a note to bare in mind before you read on:

This is not an official O.R.E 4x4 Association Inc. trip, but we will all still be representing O.R.E :D :D :D :D

Saturday

Meet at Pureora Forestry HQ 9am.

Trip briefing and vehicle checks.

Depart 9:30ish for Bog Inn.

Head back to the Nagroma block mid-late afternoon and set up camp (staking our claim ;) ), go for a play in the Nagroma block. (un-laden vehicles more fun for playing in)

Sunday

Day briefing and short training session or tech discussion on driving techniques or recovery techniques or something else 4x4 related 8) 8)

Drive the fire breaks or road to Rainbow Mountain. Head over the Rainbow Mountain track, and then head round to Lake Ririwhakaitu. Follow the track round the lake and set up camp for the night.

Monday

Day briefing and short training session or tech discussion on driving techniques or recovery techniques or something else 4x4 related 8)

Head up towards Whakatane off road :twisted: :twisted:
We have some contingencies if the weather makes the going tough 8)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Minimum Vehicle Requirements will have to be along the lines of:
-good tow points front and rear
-mud tyres
-snatchstrap
-fire extinguisher
-first aid kit

We will try and base what we do around the vehicles and how they are equiped, as usual 8)

Be prepared for damage to front and rear corners, heavy brush marks/scratches, and more.

If the lake level is up, a radiator blind may be good if you don't have a snorkle.

Tow hook mounting strength may be tested to the limit if vehicles become stuck round the lake. That ones from experience :lol: :lol: (so make sure you have well mounted hooks)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I need to know some numbers, so who's coming at this stage, and mainly who is going to be left on Monday????

Wopass = 3days
Moriarty = 3days
Rollover = 3days
DB = 3days
Rangielux = 1day possibly
DJ =3days
Guppy = 3days possibly

Anyone else and for how long????

50 K south of Tokoroa.

nearest village would be Bennydale, but we wont be going there!!
Not too far from lake Whakamaru and Mangakino.

If its raining like today :roll: then it may be better to choose either Bog inn or Ngaroma, cause they will both be as slippery as hell :twisted: and you can burn up alot of time just doing half or one track at each end of the park with alot of boring travel time in between?
But... if its dry then you may be able to do justice to them both - just depends on how many trucks you get going?

8) OooKay.

So we have :

DJ =3days
Wopass = 3days
DB = 3days
NZHunter = 3days

brianr70 = 2days (Sun, Mon)
Moriarty = 2days (Sat, Sun)
Guppy = 2days (Sat, Sun)
Guppies Mate = 2days (Sat, Sun)
Callum = 2days (Sat, Sun)

Rangielux = 1day possibly

The threads getin long for people to read through, but to cover the questions just asked:

We are camping both nights. No accomodation.

The Trip is on Labour Weekend, the 21st to the 23rd of October, hence the three days ;)

pretty damn certain i will make it. atleast for a day or so.

It would not be practical to trailer wheels or a vehicle down, its a Safari, so we are treckin round the country side alot. The only day that trailering a vehicle down would work for would be Saturday, were we will be around the same area at the end of the day. Incase you haven't gathered, we are starting in Pureora and ending up near Whakatane :wink:

:D :D :D Yeah, i guess we will see when we meet up on Saturday. Depending what the weathers been doing, what sorta of vehicles people have got and what the they want to do, we can choose. We have a few trucks on Saturday, so may be to many to make Bog Inn an option :wink:

will be a road tramp (for me and DB and you dix) from hamilton to tokoroa then thru to whakamaru on the road or on the fire brake :wink: then thru to pureora HQ to hook up with everyone else. i think we will then be deciding on either the bog in tracks or the ngaroma block tracks for the days playing :twisted: camp up there saturday night then sunday morning up and away heading back to whakamaru (on the fire brakes) then thru to Atiamuri (on the fire brakes) then thru to waiotapu .....on the fire brakes then to rerewhakaaitu for sunday night then whatever we are doing on moday will be.... you guessed it using the fire brakes :D and whatever else im not actually too sure, will be something to do with driving offroad thats for sure :D

all the fire brake travelling will depend on time frames and access to them, there will be times when its just not possible so there will more than likely be a fair bit of road travelling, im gonna be on my centipedes so as you can imagine im keen to stay on the fire brakes as much as possible :wink:

im sooo gonna have to take some fuel cans with me :shock: :roll:
