samurai diff ratios

Post by BlakeJ »

howdy guys, got a 1994 samurai last week and i think it has 2 different diff ratios in it, when in 4wd it all binds up and is really hard to get out of 4wd. Ive pulled off both diff heads and the rear has 11 teeth on pinion gear and 45 on the crown gear, the front has 11 of pinion and 82 teeth on the crown. What is that standard diff ratios if anyone knows? i got it off mud bits and they said to tell me what ratio i need and they will send me down another diffhead. im running 30" tyres and may run 31" soon, i want something that will sit at 100kmph nicely, will have a G16A in it soon as i brought a dereged scud this week to repower from.
Cheers guys

ummmmm . to get diff ratio you divide the crown wheel by the pinion .

you need to go recount agian as the ratios your count equals , are not Suzuki ratios.
ie 4.09 & 7.45

Get front and rear SJ413 diff centres as they are a lower ratio (3.9) - From memory Samurais are 3.7 - Not a huge amount but it all counts :D

cheers guys, yea turns out i counted the front crown twice around haha, was 41 on the crown for front diff. That makes a ratio of 3.73 which i belive is standard for the samurais. so by the looks someones blown a rear diff and chucked a jimny diff head in without counting the teeth first. tisk tisk tisk mudbits
