Installing Fan controller, sensor installation questions

Post by 007 »

Hi All

and thanks for your input. Im getting ready to install a fan controller in my Suzuki.

Engin is a vp commodore 5l V8 running standard commodore 400 turbo trans

Question is, where is the best location to install sensors? I have an oil and water sensor to install. they are screw in types.

Also I will need to extend the sensor wires as radiator is in back. is it ok to simply extend wires?

Regarding the oil sensor, if I use my existing hole will I mess up the computer control cold starting etc.

Any help on this would be great and thanks.

Are you using the factory computer? If so google the pin outs and you will find the info you require. All these sensors exist on the engine as does a fan controller (can't remember the colours off the top of my head)

Thanks googled it and found some great info even which wire controles the relay. Problem is the factory ecu doent turn the fan on til 101cel or 213faren which is hot. I am thinking about using the fan controler to cone on earlier 185 or 190 faren.

Cheers about the water sensor.

The oil one is tricky. Can I use the factory sensor hole. But will that mess with the computer.

if you want a different oil one you can always use an adaptir plate like this. they come with the various fitting to fit the sensor.

I am using a sandwich adapater on mine. Holden thread is an odd ball one, so make sure you get the right unit. My oil pressure and oil temp gauge are also both playing up (both are attached to the sandwich) not sure if that is the issue or not though, so I will be replacing the brand new gauges and seeing how that goes.

Cant you just put a T joint between the block and factory sender? Pretty sure they are a 1/8 NPT thread? Could (probably am)be totally wrong tho

You got me thinking.

The oil sensor seems to be the biggest challenge at the moment.

http://www.marks4wd.com/products/engine ... en-v8.html Have a look on this page and scroll down a bit. They have an oil pressure gauge adapter kit which is basically just a t-junction. I have a funny feeling the original sensor is left hand thread too.
