Post by pruggerdore »

we are planing to go to pureora bog in end to go camping and 4wheeling for a few days between the 4 th and 10th tho could manipulate those dates a bit to suit others. will be a few people in there camping i Imagine at that time of year. the place's I will be going wont really suit soft trucks. family suitable.
be nice to have a few trucks to go with.

OK more info where about are you camping at bog in or possum hut as bog in is a walk over that bridge if i remember correctly possum hut is on the side of the track on the way into the good areas.

i had a little trip on the same weekend using my road legal truck but due to the motor going bang that trip is being postponed

so........

i could be keen in jumping in on this run as long as i can get the caravan up to the camp area. other option is maybe camping around the doc YMCA cabins at the other end of the forest

regards Rohan

thoughts ideas comments....

oh yeah family trip is all good

too be honest I have never taken much notice of the huts or camping grounds. usualy just rocking in looking for the mud. have a mate that lives in the area so usualy stay with him. But now we have a camperan will be using that. So wherever we end up parking up will be fine for your caravan to get too. actually with a 4wd towing your caravan it will propably get a lot further than our 4 ton camper.
where and when is open to sort out amongst who ever wants to go. If its just us we would drive in and play it by ear. but working in with others mean would have to have more of a plan. as yet your the first to show an interest

you tell me. if its a standard safari with a set of mud tyres that you have too be able to drive to work straight afterwards then probably not. you care if it gets a bump or 2 or do you draw the line at scratches?. could always come along with more of a focus on camping. bringing the family? everyone is welcome but no one has fun dragging around a huge anchor all day with an irate owner that has suddenly decided he really wishes he wasnt there knocking his pride and joy about. down to your experience and level of truck at the end of the day. To me and I believe mudlva the harder and knarlier and difficult it gets the better  my girlfriend will be doing some of the driving but as proven at the last club champs competition she is a better driver than me

come down for a play and a looksee as there is many things that you could do besides trashing your truck like i do

As Clive has stated it come down to your experience etc some areas you are able to drive around were we will be driving thru :D

the forest is awsome so worth a look

yesterday got back from camping at the coromandel ranges and drying everything out.

current metservice reports for booth Te Kuiti and Tokorua are from Thursday through to Monday is RAIN RAIN and MORE RAIN

my family aren't doing rain anymore  :(

Poreora in the wet is not fun at all, soft wet ground will mean continuous winching as well as damaging the tracks real bad

so if you want to do day runs based around the Matamata area im keen as, good solid Coro/Kaimai clay just become real slippery and fun

Thoughts ......

mmm hoping rain was going to come right by about the 3rd. We will still do pureora if we dont do something else. camper is well set up and pretty cruisy even in the rain. day trips around the coromandel etc sounds interesting but have no idea of what where and how. camping with dogs is always an issue. do you know the tracks in the area.? any Idea where we could camp?
