Not long bought a standard 96 landcruiser prado, 100k on the clock, and lets be honest, they dont look to flash with standard 265/70/16s on it tucked well inside the gaurds.
First thing I want to change is to improve its look and actually get out there offroad by upgrading the wheels.
Also the speedo is currently out by about 6% according to GPS speed, ie need to be doin about 105 on speedo to read 100 on gps, 120 on speedo to 112 gps etc.
Here is where I need some advice.
Now looking from the inside of the wheels, the brake calipers seem rather close to the rim, so guess that counts the idea of getting 15's out?
What tyre size/rim offset combo may be best to correct the speedo, improve looks, and how large can I go before running into clearance problems.
have played around with some tyre conversion calculators and have come up with 265/75/16, 1" larger or 285/75/16, 2" larger, 1" wider
Any other ideas greatly appreciated, thanks.

Be careful with bigger tyres as the centre diff locks in these are a known weak point and $$$ to fix. are you after muds or a/t's?
My speedo is a bit out like yours as well

I ran 265/75/16's on my 96. Made the speedo read just a fraction less than GPS, like only 2 or 3 k's at 100. Just on factory 7" rims, would have been nice to get the wheels sitting 20mm or so further out, I ripped both rear guards off and had to do a big glue up mission because the guards rub the banks before the tyres do.

Thanks for that, would prefer muds over all terrains, altho they will prob see chip seal 95% of the time. Will 15" rims fit on a 90 series prado?

No, don't think you can go down to 15's, they won't get past the brake calipers - crawl under and have a look, there's not much clearance on them. Even with a 16 you need to watch the clearance with the shape of the wheel where it comes away from the hub.
