Hi there all, got a late model hilux which is set up for mostly off road and hunting, but it does some long trips to get there.
Putting an air locker in the front, what is the best option for the rear?
Air locker, mechanical locker etc?
How bad is the chattering & stuff on road with a mechanical locker?
Thanks,

there isnt really any such thing as best most people usually talk in cheapest or best bang for buck, it just comes down to how much you want to spend really, there are pros and cons with both types of lockers

Iron man have just started distributing a new electro-magnetic locker. Might be worth the question as well.

yea buy the new electro-magnetic locker learn all about it and report back to us
I personaly wouldnt have an auto locker in a predominantly road vehicle. good LSD yes but not a auto locker. have a auto locker on my offroad only truck and its good. dont even have to think about it it just works. go for the new electro-magnet or the well tried and tested arb . in a truck that new wouldnt toyota have there own electric locker option. worth asking

why not go auto in the front and air in the rear? On road you'll be in 2wd so front won't matter and you can turn rear off..

the old auto locker in the front debate
personally I won't fit a auto locker to the front as it destorys your steering ability in 4wd under power.
I run a Detroit style full carrier auto locker in the rear of my Hilux . you don't no it's there on the open road, just has the normal auto (un)locker quikrs around tight roadabouts and in car parks. but nothing you can't learn to live with.

ha ha i thought that might get a bite or two

Ideally selectable lockers front and rear would be great but pretty expensive. I guess if your going an auto locker in either front or rear it depends if you value road manners/tyre wear or off road steering/handling more. Everyones a bit different.
