Christmas 2011 Weekend

Post by curly12 »

Well has been awhile since I started one of these threads, amazing what happens when you move back to Welly.

Anyway put POS through for a warrant, failed on panhard bushes. Thanks to Moriarty for running me around and helping pressing in new bushes.

Got stopped on a checkpoint on the way home on SH1.
Officer:Please say your name and address into the machine
ME:Blah blah blah
Officer:That is fine, just check Rego, Warrant, Mileage..
ME:Should all be up to date Sir
Officer: Yes that is fine but what about this door of yours?? (window doesnt work)
ME: Sorry Officer but the electrics are rather unreliable and it doesnt work from time to time
Officer: Well you know that is a WOF issue and it needs to work for one(?????) in case you need to get out of it. Where did you get your current WOF from??
ME: Dargaville Officer(pointing at sicker that is 6months old) they have given me a warrant for the past two years.
Officer:(Laughing)Well no surpries there then, please make sure you look into it...................

Have to laugh, world famous Dargaville, hicksville heaven...(shouldnt laugh cause i have spent two years living there in the past 8, and will be back in a few more   )

So planning on heading bush early next week for a few days

Hey Curly,

I know what you mean about the WOF criteria in Dargaville I got the daily driver (2002 Ford Falcon XR6 AUIII SVP) from a cop (lived in Mangakaramea) but got the WOF in Dargaville and the rear trailing arm bushes are flogged and there is a knock in the front suspension which looks to be a lower control arm bush. Also got passed with a huge hole in the exhaust haha but that was replaced before I got it along with the usual 100,000km stuff.

um Ive NEVER in many years of WOF's had the windows checked for operation on ANY of my cars or Trucks by an inspection officer, hell my Saf has had 4 warrents from VTNZ and private WOF garages with neither of the rear windows working and the passengers one goes down with the lhf switch but only goes up using the drivers one (typical bloody Saf)

attitude makes such a difference when chatting to the police.

One of dads friends is a cop and used to carry spare bulbs in his car for taillights and if he spotted someone with a brake, tail light not working would pull them over. Depending on their reaction when being informed their tail/brake light was out they either got a free replacement bulb fitted for them or the biggest ticket he could hit them with.

took the truck up the Maremare track this morning as far as the Doc land, tracks in good repair with only a few rutted boggy patches. beware there is a digger up there doing maintenance at the moment if any Naki boys are heading out over the silly season.
parked it up and took my new SKS for a stroll down a spur track, needed some sausages for the christmas BBQ so headed off into the bush after a smellie or two, less than 15 minutes in came across a mob of smellies, BANG, BANG!
We now have 60 goat and mint, Goat and rosemary sausages, Moroccan Goat and Italian sausages.
Leg of Nannie roasting in the oven for cold cuts and 4 large backstraps cubed and in the smoker for salads.

Bought some new play tyres for my zuki a while ago and I just found rims for them. They are original 7.00x16 Firestone Super All Traction 8)
Two are about 60%, two are 99% and the spare is brand new. If I can find another new one I'll put them on the front.

Went to supercheap and got some awesome deep dish rubber mats. Only front ones though. They need a trim to get them to fit, so will get onto that tomorrow.

After the marathon effort at the fuel station last weekend sorting the tyres on the RAV4, I did what all good home mechanics do before undertaking major repairs and googled it!
So pleased I did, especially with all these convection showers we are having in town :!:

Nah bro. It had me buggered. I took up SC on their offer and one of their staff shot out in the carpark and did them for me. I asked her if I could take photos to post up on a 4x4 forum, she got all semi-offended, blushed a lot and after fitting said mats scampered off inside. I think she misunderstood the purposes of the proposed photos.

I did however cut up some checker plate and made a roof for the "other truck" and nearly got the rear guards finished, always 10 rivets short. Of course I'd never have been able to fit in doing the guards and roof had it not been for the lovely lass at SC saving me half a day by fitting the mats though.... Super Cheap, I love Super Cheap.
