Reefton's a good spot to base plenty of tracks around it, and of course it's only 20mins down the road to the chasm track
Reefton has some good accomodation at the local campground which has cabins, and the old nurses home is quite good as well, although noisy, boozy 4x4er's have upset the owners in the past :o
Tracks in the area range from easy to hard, and harder.

Westport is a great spot as well, again the local campground has good facilities and cabin's, some great tracks around there as well, there's a few locals that are always in for a bit of 4x4 and will show you around if they're home.

Either way I can't commit to anything quite yet, I'm rostered to work and our leave schedule for next year isn't out yet :(
But hoping to secure some leave and attend

bring the shorty Taz, your longy won't like going up tailings

Am guessing at this stage we run a grade 2-3 trips and a grade 4-5 trips for those that want to wreck their trucks (trip leaders are being organised) Accom in reefton, there is a motorcamp there (am still checking out)

What tracks do people want to do?

For the grade 2-3 was thinking the goat track, mt greenland, deniston, tailings, that beach/cave track last year was good, (open to suggestions here)

If you are going to stay in Reefton shouldn't you be looking at more Reefton based tracks.
I wouldn't think Mt Greenland is a shiny tip these days either.

Big River is a good easy shiny trip, It would take most of the day to drive in and out if you want to stop and look at the old gold workings.
Petrol Hill is also on the Big River road, though it's probably not for shinys :D
Slab Hut creek can also be accessed from the same road.
Napoleons Hill is a must, would need to organise access though.
Montgomeries Hut is a good short track half day to in and out.

There is also a basic DOC camping ground South of Reefton.

Mt greenland isnt really for shinys anymore. Depending on truck numbers the chasm would be a goody, tailings? plus plenty of others that im not sure what there called all around reefton area.

Toyota FJ45 build in progress.
Tires are like boobs, they always look big until you have played with them for a while, then you just want a bigger set.

There are lots of good tracks in the Reefton Area and it is not far to westport or Greymouth

Harder tracks around Reefton

Chasm track
Cooze hill
petrol hill
Subaru hill
slab hut
Alexander power house
Etc Etc

Easier tracks

Green hut
Waitahu
Waipuna caves
Nomame road
Cookeye creek
Greenstone
Big River
Etc etc

then only 1 hour away there are the Westport tracks

Tailings
Bennetts farm
Number 6
Seddonville
Denniston
Mackley
Mt frederick
Etc Etc

Reefton is a good base area with accommodation and eating houses

could be 4 wagons from greymouth keen for this, will have to decide closer to the time tho.
waipuna caves are pretty awesome, cockeye creek is bollocks, went in there today, just miles of overgrown gorse and bush, hated it

At this present time I have changed my mind on going to Reefton because I have thrashed those tracks recently and will most likely go to Westport instead.

might be better to postpone it for a bit as there are other groups on the tracks .... (unless someone else wants to take over organising this)
