Noisy V6 gearbox

Post by kernels »

Hi guys,

Has anyone done the bearings in a V6 Vitara gearbox ? Alternatively, anybody know where I can get one to work on or one that's already done ?

Thanks

common fault, usually the input shaft bearing packs up, left to its own devices and it will spin in the housing, meaning your box is only good for scrap. bearings are all readily available through saeco etc

Hi Strx,

Thank for the reply, would changing the bearings be a job that a reasonably technically competent person can do ? If it shifts fine I guess I won't have to touch the synchros or anything else really, I assume once you go to the trouble of splitting it you basically just replace every bearing you see ?

Cheers
