Maratoto or Stadia this wednesday or thursday

Post by mudlva »

Im bored.....
have been awaiting for a reply from the BoP chap (lucky bugger might be out wheeling  )

anyway im keen on either doing a maratoto wires loop run or stadia run
Maratoto is $10/vehicle
Stadia is $25/vehicle

vehicles will need to be well step up with good muds and decent winches and all the usual recover and safety gear. (think standard club type rules)

booth trips will involve some form of panel damage as you will be resting your sides on banks, rocks and trees etc. side glass will have to put in the tempary item basket. mud holes shouldnt much more than 3ish foot deep at a guess.

looking at a departure time off 8.30 and i could easily be convinced to do a run on both days 8)

anyway reply here or give me a text on
021 599 519
cheers Rohan

Are you talking about tomorrow (in 40mins today) and Thursday this week?

Would be keen for next week... got a few repairs to sort and my new 9,500lb winch from SuperCheap to fit to meet your demanding standards :)

You need a trailor as in a car trailer? I have one you can use. Its twin axel, deck is 1900wide but could fit something 2100easy.

well it was a good run

Clive and Tracey in the reasonably standard hylux (you know 3.8ltr slightly modded spring pack and silver stonesetc etc) and i went for a stroll around the wires maratoto track anticlockwise in direction. all good, until, whilst Calvin was climbing the long rock his cv desided it wanted no more and spat the dummy, a bit of a winch onto level ground and replacement installed off we went again.
its quite ampressive watching a long wheel base (he must be about 3m+ long) coming down the the rock garden, his front is past the dropoffs and the rear still hasn't got to the lip yet (not quite but along those lines  )
got to the "log" and this was the first time that ive sceen a truck just about climb it without the use of a string. once again my coe and i were impressed

after that it was a amble to the top and out to the carpark

good day had by all

the main wires track has been cut up hard by the looks of it by smaller trucks having a hard time and using massive wheel speed were the use of a spade might of been more prudent.
softer tyres and picking the "line" will help safe this track from being closed again. there is two big araes around the maratoto loop gate that is just about shot until the weather gets better (prob around 2013) with little to self recover from.

just something to think about for those that are looking at going up there in the near future

Well said ! Would be a shame, to see this track turn into a grade 5 tuff truck track only. The loop is there for that.
