TJ Wrangler central locking/alarm

Postby phraza » Thu Jan 12, 2012 8:23 am

Hi all,

After a recent break-in attempt  , looking at putting some more security on the Jeep.

It doesn't have central locking, can wranglers have central locking?? (cause the doors have no electrics in them).

Would want central locking when i get an alarm installed

Cheers,

Fraser

Hey phraza,

Some alarms come with a central locking kit or you can get them from ripco for around $60

I put the ripco kit in my hilux and its been for a few swims (door lock motors soaked) and still works fine.
The kit runs its own power supply and everything in its own loom, only thing needed is a small hole in the door (I used the hinge hole) to get the cables inside the door for the motors.

Cheers

Ah true, might have a look at my doors tonight and see what i can work with, i know the wrangler hinges are a bit different as they are designed to be taken off easy when you want to remove the door

Cheers for your help

Mine has got one Phraza, mongoose , really good to, can adjust sensitivity and all that, but your half doors aren't factory ones so yeah don't know how you'll get on with those.

had alarm and central locking on my blue TJ. Was a pita. I't lock itself if left unattended and keys out after a period, which was always convenient in the bush. Battery on remote died in the bush one day too, pissing down with rain and locked out... just awesome. Pulled the thing out.

ah true, im going in to see my mechanic tomorrow so might see what he says too.

looks like it might be tricky though, will take it one step at a time. Might have to get a plug at the door hinge point for when i take the doors off

Obviously a shitty burgler?! TJs have to be the easiest vehicle to get into (especially ones like my soft top) you don't even have to damage them, just unzip a damn window. and the bonnets don't even lock hahaha just open er up and grab a battery or whatever else you fancy.
