New rotoruien...?

Post by Hamz »

Hi there, relatively new 4x4'er. been on the forum a couple of months but never had a camera to add truck till now... anyway, im from rotorua, been on a couple of runs in north and south island, was tried by fire on my first trip with the boys here, but loved it and now im hooked!

I own a Isuzu Wizard 96', i know, its IFS but its not bad for a first 4x4

Truck has had a few modifications:

- 40mm suspendion lift (cranked torsions in the front)
- 32/11.5/15 A/T's
- 4jg2, 3.1 Deisel turbo, top mount intercooler, custom radiator infornt of radiator for trans fluid
- Custom made front bumper (3mm steel, 3" exhaust pipe)
- 2 1/2" exhaust halfway through to a cutome made exhaust tip
- bits and bobs on the inside (cup holder, angeled 4x4 stick, speakers etc)
- Custom bird poop on bonnet

Plans:
* 50mm body lift
* 33" M'T's on 15x8" rims (15x7" current)
* Snorkel
* 2x Rectangular Spotties on front, 4x round spotties on roof
* Roof Basket
* Winch (dyneema)
* Clean Bird poop

Hey Hamz,

Welcome to ORE, First thing is put your location in so we know were you are from so some of the people around yon can lend there help if need be.

Also not a huge fan of the Wizard but it looks like a nice truck.

Cheers.

Done, thanks. yeah the wizards aren't too popular, but i like them. when i get more serious (more $$$) then ill probably get a 80 series.although, the 4jg2 motor is super efficiant, i can get 700ks out of a tank

Go on to Google maps and put Whakamarama Road, Whakamarama, Bay Of Plenty should give a fair idea the tracks at the very end of the road you can see most of the main track on the map to

Theres an apparently pretty good track out manawahe ways.. also a good backroad tikitour from vegas (if you dont get lost on the hundreds of roads that go up through those hills lol). Havent been up there yet tho hopefully going up at some point soon, test out the new truck. Whakamaramara is always good fun tho..

Know anyone thats got any further than the massive bog at the bottom? Last time I was up there someone had cut a track around it, then someone else had laid big tree trunks across the track making it inpassable. Its past the 2nd "clearing" down the bottom of a moderately steep longish hill. Im sure you know where I mean :) Ive pulled several trucks out of that bog when I used to live a bit more local. Strangely all with dead batteries and a stalled engine! Lol.. still can't get over how uncanny that is..even the one time I drove right down to it my batteries died on the winch back up..worked fine before and after lol.
