fuel level sender for petrol or diesel ln61 hilux

Post by Roenut »

does anyone know if the petrol fuel senders on the top of the tank will work with my diesel tank?
i just got one cheap and didnt want to have to drop the back of the tank down and remove etc and find out it isnt interchangable.
mine keeps reading quite low, and sometimes it goes higher for a couple of mins and drops again. ive checked connections etc.
any help would be apprieciated.
cheers.

Latest mod, pin stripes, hit the same branch I did on the way in on the way out.

Cheap as, around $55 bucks. I brought this one on trademe from little red auto parts. Easy to install to. Used the exiting gage screws and hole in my Zuki tank.
There are dearer one's but it does the job. It leaked the first time I installed it. so I re installed the sender using gasket silicon and it is sweet as now.

Is this in a hilux or a surf? In a Surf isn't there an inspection plate under the back seats that givers you access to the fuel sender in the top of the tank?

nope, mines a surf, under the inspection plate under the seat theres the outlet and breathers etc.
i had to completely unbolt the tank and drop it down to get a stubby philips on the other end of the tank. it was roughly positioned where the body curves up to form the boot tray
