Hi,
On saturday I went to move my Landcruiser, but it didn't want want to turn over. when you turned the ignition on, everything lights up fine, but when you turn it to start, nothing.
The clock on the dash fades, so it looks like it's drawing current, but nothing happens.
Went through and check battery's and all fuses and relays (that I could find).
It didn't seem to get any power to the starter motor, when key was turned.
I had neighbor over and he checked all he could think of, but to no avail.
So gave up and had a few beers. When I was seeing him out, I thought I would try start it and started first go.
I went on a trip yesterday, no problems.
Anybody got any ideas what it could be? is there a relay between ignition switch and starter?
BJ74 wouldn't start
Re: BJ74 wouldn't start
check connections on batteries and starter motor, could be something real simple like that
Re: BJ74 wouldn't start
Starter solenoid sounds like a good place to check. or the starter itself is not pulling in properly. If it does it again, give the starter and or the solenoid a whack with a hammer or your forehead.
Dont follow me. i'll get stuck and need a tow..
Re: BJ74 wouldn't start
Tried smacking the starter, but didn't seem to be getting any power to solenoid side of starter motor.
Battery connections are ok, got power everywhere else.

Re: BJ74 wouldn't start
sometimes the ignition barrel comes loose and depending on how you hold the key it may sometimes work. Something else to check anyway.

Re: BJ74 wouldn't start
I did wonder about that, but when you turn the key to start it, the clock on the dash fades out, so it looks like something is draining power hence switch must be doing something????
