petefj40 looking for a 24 valve 80 n FOUND ONE!!
Might be a tall order to find one for under $16,000. Might have to settle for a 12 valve.
But I'm selling my two 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee's this month ($5k each) with a vision to purchase a 80 series as a replacement.
If anyone knows of one about please let me know.
Cheers,
Pete.

Re: petefj40 looking for a 24 valve turbo diesel 80.
you wanna go offroad in it or just a road wagon dude
if just a roadie, then maybe look at shelling out a wee bit more (if its available) for a 100 series

Just on road skid. I'd like a 100 series but I want to stick on this budget.

It's got to be turbo diesel mate. Can't afford to run another V8.

I was looking at this one too but have decided its not for me.
Had a look on the Carjam website and according to them it hasn't had a WOF since 2010 (think it was then?) with last test being a Fail.
I'm assuming this information is out of date as Turners website shows it having a current WOF.
If you cant be there to check it out yourself Pete then make sure you get someone who knows what they are looking at to do it for you.
Sometimes you get what you pay for... and sometimes Turners just advertise at a very low reserve to generate heaps of interest.
PS. I am not familiar with this truck nor do I know any background on it (other than reserve appears to be about $10k less than you would expect a 100 Series to be worth).
Good Luck, you might just pick up a bargin!

Re: petefj40 looking for a 24 valve turbo diesel 80.
generaly you can get a nice 100's for less money than the 24v 80 series.
aim for a manual one and wait for the right one, the one that grabs your fancy.
post the info on the cruiser bro, i cant see the tard me stuff.

I agree. Turners estimates are so low they must be just trying to attract more punters.
That one's out my league.

Cheers mate.
But my co driver from last year, his brother has a 12v manual 80 in average condition. I've been driving it around over the last two days. I really like it. A couple of things need doing to it but for 12k I'm pretty happy. Someone told me I wouldn't like the manual but after driving it, I wouldn't go auto. It's just a tow wagon and daily driver. The boy needs a manual to learn in this year too, so the search is over.
Thanks for the help fellas.

It's either the 80 or the Holden. The 80 will be a lot easier. Though he's keen to shift some gears in the Holden.

Learning to drive in dads 80 was easy i found it hard to stall it, even with all my shit clutch skills.

now take it round to Turoa and wait for the telling off then ask him to inspect it for the known 80 faults like steering box cracks and firewall rust and do ya know the motor history

Yep. He's already given it the once over skid.
I see he's already blown the top end of the last motor in his 80. Apparently he's adapting a big ass bus size turbo on it now.

He should learn how to drive first (particularly Zuk's) before making it go fast.

I haven't looked. But from what others have said? This doesn't surprise me.
Re: petefj40 looking for a 24 valve turbo diesel 80.
get tu's to practise moding his 80 on your motor.... got to be atleast a 50% win ratio. Looks like a tidy 80 though.
Dont follow me. i'll get stuck and need a tow..
Re: petefj40 looking for a 24 valve turbo diesel 80.

Already getting a couple of minor mods done.
-Remote electric brake unit install (for towing caravan)
-Switch for k's.
-Remove old head unit.
-Get cig lighter working
-Get horn working.
Then it's off up to Nelson this avo to bring me caravan back home.

You thought I meant kilometers didn't you.

Did I say kilometers? Nah. I said a switch for k's. I got these special lights in the dash called k's.

Drove it to Nelson earlier. Man it drives like a car!!
Stoked!
Re: petefj40 looking for a 24 valve turbo diesel 80.

Pic taken on the Lewis Pas.
The trip from Nelson to Christchurch today went really smoothly.
Sat on 90k most of the way. No tail wips like in the Jeep or Holden.

It's just wider than most trailers.
