Was on the hoist today.
Rick found:
-Fuel pump leaking (wondered why there was so much diesel in the engine bay)
-Power steer res leaking. (apparently that's common)
-Front right brake caliper seized. (I wondered why it was pulling to the left)
-Front right axle seal leaking diff oil into the CV. (thought that joint looked oily)
-Front right CV slogged out (no grease, diff oil washed it away)
Minor stuff i guess.
The day after I drove it 900km the alternator's belt failed. The second one was on the way out too. The 3rd fan belt was looking the same. Timing aye! Someone was looking after me last weekend. :D

Andy! I thought you looked after your gear. (previous owner)

-Power steer res leaking. (apparently that's common)

The resoviour cracks where they are spot welded to their mounts, the fact that they are mounted on the inlet manifold probably does not help
Cheers

adding rubber gromets under the feet where they are bolted to the inlet manifold reduces the vibrations making it less likely to crack.
i used the rubber feet off a surf powersteer resivior and they work well.

That sounds like a good idea Ben. Might look into that..
Anyway, I had it replaced. Cost me an arm n a freaking leg! BUT the engine bay looks cleaner at least.

Man i feel like a plonka.
This truck is the first diesel I've ever owned.
The fella selling it only moved $500 from his asking price and i never even looked at the k's that was owing on it.
Since owning it I've traveled 1500 max. The paid k's are up to 206,000km It's now done over 212,000km. So I'm going to have to pay over 4,000km for someone else k's.

Just so you don't feel so bad Pete, a courier van came into work the other week and it's RUC's were - get this - 135000kms over!! Yes 135000over!!!
Imagine what that'll cost him to get it back to currant and even worse what it'll cost him if he gets pulled!

The 80 looks good too ;)

I've looked at the VTNZ site briefly but can't see where it shows what an 80 would cost for a 1000k's.
I'm guessing it'd be around $150 per thousand for an 80?
6,000 seems small compared to 135,000km's

It's actually $46.51 per 1000km for a type 1 vehicle to 3 tonne.

Makes it about $280.00 to bring her up to date.

As the 80 is used so much for towing and moving large things about I had, "4X4 Accessories" install a front tow bar. Used it today moving the caravan up the driveway. It can be used as a snatch point as well.
Threw the buggies HID's on the front as well. They get more use that way. :)

It had to be done.
The pyro gauge gets fitted next week.

Right. That's it. No more mods to go on this truck.
Well. The last 2 things I kind of miss that would finish it would be.
1. Aisin front hubs. (would be cool to turn em off round town)
2. Front mount intercooler.
In that order. But both together would cost well over 2k. And at the end of the day, it's just a pos 80. But i love it all the same. :D
