Well my weekend starts tonight, Heading over to Great Barrier Island for a 3 day tramp! I know it's not really 4WD related!

When i get back on Monday evening i hope to put my new windscreen spotlight mounts on the Jeep :)
Something like these ones
But i have slightly bigger spotties to put on. As i had a roof bar, but thats too high for my carpark at work

Yeah I only got it as I need a car to take the rubbish to the end of the driveway at the new house as the driveway is 1km long and it was either a quad or this and as I need a ride on mower as well and this was cheaper than a quad I took it lol.

haha nah it came with a empty tank lol but I put $10 in and I got half a tank lol.

I have a towball/pintel on my rear bar but it sits about 800+ from the ground and when towing a trailer it sits on a horrible angle and if the light were underneath at the rear of the trailer they always ended getting damaged... so I had some spare time today and went to Towbar services and managed to get a towbar built the way I wanted it...

So results are Towbar ....

Took the zuk for a test drive offroad today 8)

It went suprisingly well for being on bald tyres  well until the front driveshaft popped out and dropped all my transfer case oil out

I think I found the problem to the driveshaft slipping out, the grease nipple is missing and when driveshaft is completely comressed it pushes the grease out the nipple hole and then creates suction.

All problems aside im very happy with it, its going to be a bit of fun, the rear flexes ok, but needs a few little adjustments (and more flex  ) , and the front is going under the knife for some restructuring

it shouldnt be able to slip out unless its too short, its not articulating too much for the driveshaft length is it?

It compressed right to the end and then wouldnt come back so it pulled the other slip joint out of the front of the transfer case (it has 2 slip joints  ), I pulled it out and had a play with it, i put a temporary spacer inside the slip joint and problem solved.

After fixing that and heading into the paddock for another test, i managed to pop a shock out of the tower in the rear   nothing like some dusk paddock repairs

Got plenty more testing to do to work out the kinks, its bumpier than bloody leaf springs so need to figure that out, all in all very happy with it, it wouldn't be any fun if i didnt have to swing some spanners on it.

Well strictly speaking I haven't touched the truck all weekend.
But I did start early...
Went for a quick trip around the block late last week and under brakes got the death wobble thru the front end...Thought I was about to loose a wheel...
Pulled up and gave the front end a shake.... Had a loose panhard connection... only finger tight...
Slow trip home and thought it was time to check the steering dampner as well...Still original unit...
You guessed it....it was stuffed also... dampened one way and not the other
Have a new one fitted just need to take it for a test run..... Oh and tightened the nut and put on a second one as a jamb nut.
Cheers Calvin
