well have not had time to get anywhere near the double cab I picked up couple of years ago and just don't see time coming soon so bit the bullet and brought a new truck specifically for the road / off road only to recover mates in desperate need.for what it is I paid too much but there's not many around that suited what i wanted which was non diesel ute 4wd.yes this isn't a ute but can be converted to one easily







its has issues.2nd day the transfer case output bearing failed so its now been converted top manual,rear springs need replacing,front needs adjustment to suit,probably all new shocks at some point and a wheel alignment.needs a decent canopy chop to make it a double cab as old owners attempt was a bit off,will fab up some matching front and rear tube bars which ive got a set of spots i can put on as well and also have some wider rims i want to put on and ideally some 31x10.5s and then just drive her

apart from that its ok,good old 3ye lol.never thought id own one of them again but yeah.it'll keep me happy and is functional

ok,i know too many people with parts and my garage is full of use full stuff so now has 33x12.5 muds and a 30mm body lift .still got to beat seams but if the rubbing continues to be quite bad might throw a 50mm body lift in instead

yeah,he didn't want them cos of the cuts.knew he wouldn't take them.he's real fussy like that.ive found 4x spots and a roof rack as well so they'll go on soon too so much for a daily driver only haha

ooohhhh hadn't even spotted that .i must admit the body is quite strait for its age.also has almost no cancer that i can see which is why i paid more than it was worth

yeh that was my full intention fitzy but its just the way it is,im able to put together a modified truck easier and cheaper than a standard tidy truck .i would've been happy with a good set of 31s but there's non out there that are cheap

rear has now been levelled off with front.only had 3+overload when i got her but most I've seen are 5+ so got a couple of extra leafs from the pile and whacked them in and she came up the 50mm to make things dead level.might actually look at dropping the front just a smidgen then get a wheel alignment monday and she should drive nicely and wear tyres less .also picked up some rear seats so they'll go in after lunch then i can fit all the family in at once

I've never understood chops like that. What's the practical use of a space that small?

fair call taz and i agree,it ain't super practical but the tail gates all banged up on the inside,no glass reg or handle etc as well as the rubbers around edge of canopy have all been ripped off so i need a cheap way to close it all back up again.by cutting as per pic its just a bit of fibre glass work and then a bit of sheet steel from canopy down to floor.id then have a sealed body with 5 seats and a separate area i can just chuck things in but yeah. I'm still thinking about it and trying to look for other options

Good old 3Y-E although i actually wish i had one of them laying around, then i could throw away the carby on my 4Y lol. But yeah same boat, didnt want to pay diesel rego

yeh after my original 3ye blew in my now v8 i thought id never go back to one but they're ok

All i need is the intake manifold and everything thats attached to it..but do you think there seems to be any laying around anywhere not that I can find anyway. Plenty of carby ones cheap as chips. But cant complain..its a good old motor and runs pretty good compared to most carby cars ive had. Starts easy, runs fairly smooth, doesnt overrun when switching off.. tho I bet the EFI makes it even better. And i thought it was only the 130 series shape that had the 3Y-E, didn't realise some 60 series did as well

um was told landcruiser but still havent measured ,will let you know once i have.tyres are about 40-50mm out from guard so will be getting some rubber flares this weekend
