Disco 3 hidden winch

Post by bryan.daley »

Used part of my holidays to fit a Superwinch Talon 12.5. It's on a Devon hidden winch bracket with the OTT rings.

Used 50mm2 cable with Optima yellow top and dual charge doofer. Battery feed runs through an isolator solenoid.

All fits nicely in 2nd battery box.

Had to build a stainless bracket plus alloy mounts to hold number plate as the supplied one was for the longer UK plates. The bracket is held in place by stainless studs and two cross pins (split pins)

All ready to assist any poor stuck Toyoya.

Still working out how to make the in-cab switches look like factory.
If I did it again I'd buy the landrover external mount as this took 3 days to install.

Not really, the mount just bolted into the original internal bumper mounting points. It also has bolts acting as cross pins running behind the mount points.

The crumple zone will be affected but I can't see how this can be avoided sticking a big bit of steel ahead of the chassis. Just don't get in my way as the crumple zone is now external ;-)

The parking sensors are not standard and I disconnected them as they are a stupid idea on the front.
