Pretty sure you can get the 1kz bellhousing and mount that to your gearbox, but may require a bit of dilling etc to mount up.

just make sure when your talking to him that you talking about the 1kz not the 5L. the 5L is also a 3 litre and its a direct bolt up.
and also don't get 3 litre and 3L (2.8 ) mixed up.

neither the 3l or 5l are turbo. but 2lt turbo is an easy bolt on. theres a few on here with turbo'ed 5l.

I've done the 1kz - 2lt (2.4 L turbo) swap in a Bundera. You need a bell housing to match the 1kz to the gearbox. Just cruisers wanted $250 for one. I managed to get one for $65. The engine mounts need to move back roughly 60mm & drop about 40mm. All easily do able. You will pay between $1500- $2500 + gst for an engine. Depending on what the engine comes out of, you may also need to get a sump, dump pipe & probably power steering hoses. I got rid of all the electronic & emission control shite off of the 1kz and fitted a 2lt pump re-specced by DSL. I also used all the temp & pressure senders off my old 2lt so that they matched all my wiring & gauges. Glow plug wiring took a little thought, but got there in the end. Also alternator is internally regulated not external like the 2lt. Vacuum pump is motor mounted under the fuel pump, not on the alternator like the 2lt, so you have to run some pipes and hoses. Easier than doing a Commodore V6 conversion. all up cost if you do it your self is between $3000 & $4000 dollars.

Also there is no such thing as a 1kz gearbox. There are R, G & W series boxes. R is probably the strongest & the 1kz bellhousings definitely connect to them. What are you put the 1kz into?

That will be easy then because that should have an R150 box in it or an a340 auto. Both take the 1kz easy. You may even be able to fit the ecu from the 1kz because aren't they EFI? They did come out later with a 1kz in them. The KZJ130.

last year they made them i think.

gearbox should be a R151f (assuming its manual) and stock diffs are 4.3 so they rev like crazy at 100km/h. like you need an excuse to fit big tires ;)

Put the 4.8 back in. It will be no good off road with 4.1s. Unless it is only a show pony
